a long time ago…
like, say 12 years past…
I used to make tons and tons of crafts. In fact, I was once told my house looked like
a craft threw up in it.
It’s true.
My decorating style was more country/crafty back then…
think stars, plaids, and boyd bears.
That has since changed and I am happy to report I have outgrown that style
and now my decorating reflects more of IKEA!!!
But every Christmas season I get a crafty itch for snowmen.
You see, I usually buy a new snowman ornament for our tree
and I try to make a new snowman either for the tree or
for my growing snowman family.
This year I found some wooden spools in a forgotten craft drawer,
and an idea started forming in my head.
Time to gather your supplies
because I am going to share my vision with you:-)
*wooden spools in graduating sizes
*white fluffy yarn
*2 different color fabrics
*buttons
*wood glue
*hot glue gun
*white paint
*black puffy paint or black seed beads
*orange and black felt
*snowflake button
*embroidery floss to match hat fabric
2. Wrap the spools with the yarn until they resemble snowballs.
3. Glue the spools together with the wood glue. Let dry overnight.
4. Cut a piece of fabric for the hat that reaches around the top of his head. Glue in place with the hot glue. Cut a small strip of black felt to cover the raw edges. Glue on with hot glue. Tie the top with your embroidery floss and glue the snowflake button over the knot.
5. Tie a strip of fabric around his neck.
6. Glue on buttons down the middle ball.
7. Either put small dots of black paint for the eyes and mouth or you could glue seed beads in place too.
( DONT try to make a line for the snowman’s mouth…it doesn’t work so well on yarn. Take my word for it. Just do dots.)
8. Cut a small triangle out of orange felt for his nose and glue in place.
9. You could glue small sticks into the sides of the middle ball if you want…I just haven’t done that step yet.
10. Sit back and enjoy your handiwork:-)
