Behind BruCrew Life

It’s been a while since I just shared some fun randoms with you…I really need to do that more often.  What do you think?  Want a random fun post here and there?  Today is really a compilation from the past 2 months…I told you it’s been a while since I shared.

blogger meet ups

I met up with Aimee and Liz on two different fun days.  Aimee and I went to a Maple Syrup Festival and spent the day laughing our butts off…I heart that girl!!!  Then Liz came for a day, and we did coffee and shopping a few weeks ago…she is seriously the cutest and so much fun to hang out with.  I am so blessed to have them as such great friends.

IMG_2378

The kids made and raced their Awana cars.  Mr. Man took second in speed with his angry bird car, so we are headed to the BIG race this weekend.

cupboards and contact paper

It was time for a cupboard cleaning.  My husband was tired of trying to find the salt and pepper under all this mess.  I think I need to bake more…or just buy less.  Please tell me I’m not alone in this madness.

Contact paper and cardboard/foam board make great photo props for super cheap.  I used two boards and covered each side with a different color.

hcg and fish

Summer is coming way too quickly, and I decided to give this diet a try.  Turns out I’m not good with sticking with this one either, although I did lose 8 pounds in 2 weeks.  Too bad I didn’t stay out of the sweets…I’m sure I gained it all back.  So…I’m trying round 2 starting now.

Even though I do post tons of desserts here, this is a normal dinner around our house.  Veggie Salad and baked Tilapia…YUM!!!!!

exercise

Exercise at it’s finest.  I actually don’t mind running…when it’s outside.  I do go to the gym and use the treadmills when it’s raining or cold, but I would much rather run outside.  I use landmarks to encourage myself to go a little farther each day.  I try to always go 10 steps past the point where I stopped running from the day before.  I walk some, then run again and try to beat another point.

Reese's

Can you tell I’m addicted to Reese’s?  I mean did you see these Chocolate Reese’s Cheesecakes and these Reese’s Rocky Road Brownies?  It’s why I run :-)

World Market

We shopped at World Market for the very first time.  Well, I shopped and my hubby wandered with me.  I found all sorts of crazy things like chocolate with bacon and Happy Hippo cakes.  But I ended up with a cute cupcake plate and a bowl and whisk.

Bday

My hubby is the best.  This year for my birthday (yes, I’m still talking about it because it’s birthday month still…no one else knows that though) we went out to dinner and then got frozen yogurt.  Can you tell which bowl is mine ;-)

Then the kids bought me these fun nail polishes and perfume.  The best though…my hubby bought cupcakes because he didn’t want me to bake my own this year.  That cheesecake cake was pretty yummy for being from Walmart.

IMG_2457

Has anyone else tried these new Skinny Cow chocolates?  I have to say that I am usually a die hard peanut butter and chocolate girl, but those caramel ones are my favorites for sure.

kid dates

Last month I went to the little man’s mom and son dinner at school.  He was so cute to watch as they sang a song about how they learn from watching their moms.  Total tear jerker.  Why do they grow so fast?

Then my daughter and I went for coffee and some dress shopping.  It’s getting harder and harder to find modest clothes for young ladies.  I don’t like that she is growing up so fast.  Where is my little baby girl?

lips and calendar

This month I tried two new things…this Maybelline lip gloss is not bad.  For $3 I would buy more “shades”.

Finally trying to get some sort of schedule going with blogging…it’s a start for now.  My husband keeps trying to get me to use charts and things on the computer, but I like paper and pen so much better.  So far so good at sticking to it…I’m just slightly behind on all the little things I added to it. But it does keep me on task a little bit better.  Now when I sit down at the computer, I have a better plan of what needs done.

The proudest moment in a parent’s life is to have your child accept Christ as their Savior.  This little guy trusted Christ about 2 years ago in Junior Church.  Lately he had been asking to be baptized, so this past Sunday my hubby had the great honor of baptizing him.  He was so excited to share this with our church and couldn’t wait to get in.  Although I did talk him out of a cannon ball.  Thank you older brother for that one.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your families :-)

Behind BruCrew Life

I thought I would share a few of my favorite iphone pictures from behind BruCrew Life today.

iphone post 6

 Blogging is always an adventure.
Thank goodness for Starbucks WIFI when the internet is down at home.
I met Liz from Love Grow Wild …yay for local (ish) blogger meetups.  Today she and I are on an adventure to Salt Lake City.  Going to BYBC to learn how to be better bloggers.

iphone post 8

I am not a fan of early mornings, but when you see a sunrise like this one, it’s all worthwhile.  Our God is amazing and I love witnessing creation in work.
Happy mail days include cases of Chobani yogurt.  We love the new banana and peach flavors.

iphone post 5

A new yogurt place opened in town, so we had a double date with 2 of our kids.

iphone post 7

This sign cracked me up when I saw it in the store…I’m thinking about going back to buy it.  What do you think?
Baking fail for the week…the rolls expanded too much and made the filling spill everywhere.

iphone post 3

I have natural curly hair, but every once in a while I get the urge to go straight.  Cracks me because everyone at church can’t figure out who the new girl is on our praise team…then it hits them that it is me.

iphone post 2

Eating Nutella straight from the jar, means buying new jars when I actually want to use it in a recipe.

iphone post 9

This is a normal shopping trip to Walmart for me…there is always way more sugar items than regular food.
My shopping and eating habits means I have to endure Billy Blanks kicking my butt in Taebo.  Not happy about it, but summer is coming really quickly!

iphone post 1

The kids were out of school this week, so the girls went shopping while the boys went rock climbing.
I love my family and love spending that time with them!!!

 HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

new-free-app-the-inspiration-board-001

It is such a fun way to organize your pictures onto cute boards.  I am loving all the cute color and pattern options for making your board unique and stylish!  The washi tape option is probably my most favorite way to “pin” things to the boards.  Here is one of the boards that I created yesterday in just a few minutes.  You just upload your pictures and then start adding some fun fonts, colors, and patterns to the pictures.

Valentine's Day Treats

Are you inspired to go create some boards with your personality attached to them?  Head over to I Heart Naptime and see how to win some big prizes for creating and linking some boards in the right categories.

In an Insta…

I have come to the realization that my big camera does not get used very often.
In fact, most days it only gets brought out to see the new food I made.
My phone is attached to my hip and I am glad that I at least capture
some of what goes on around us with that camera.

My phone just got “dumped” onto the computer last night,
so here is a few fun things and fun finds from the past 2 weeks.

*I love using my Kitchen Aid to shred chicken.  It is so fast and easy.
*Yes, I started baking with Pumpkin in August…can you say obsessed with the orange stuff?
*Sitting for 1 1/2 hours at volleyball practice results in things like self portraits.
*This sunset we saw driving home from vacation was amazing…of course filters help a little.

*Fun new coffee flavors from TJMaxx…and only $5 a bag.
*I wasn’t baking with peanut butter and marshmallow…just eating it by the spoonful that day:-)
*My daughter is embracing color and having fun with her outfits.  I love her quirkiness!!!
*I am on a mission to get organized.  Does anyone else always buy the $1 post its and pads at Target?

*Salted Caramel Mochas are back and I am so happy about this!!!
*I found the Cinnabon sugar and syrup at our Kroger store…french toast sticks will never be the same.
*Yay!!! The Shugar-Bakers met up again for dinner, dessert, and fun chit chats. Aimee is so fun!!!
*Michaels is the place to find cute Halloween stuff.  What should I make with these?

*I puffy heart love IKEA.  We spent Labor Day picking out new things for our living room.  Oh, and eating free food too.  Gotta love a free food special where everyone eats and they subtract the meal price from your store purchase.  Best IKEA trip so far!!!

*Football Reese’s at Sam’s Club.   I need to make something before they mysteriously disappear!!!
*Headbands and scarfs are good accessories to distract from the days I am lazy and don’t wash my hair.
*This cake…I spent all last Friday night on it.  Saturday I realized that it isn’t due until the end of September.  Apparently I can’t read…or I just felt the need to practice my cake skills.
*Thank goodness for Diet Dr. P on nights full of cake and frosting.

*Lately my mini me has been begging to bake things with me…how can I turn down that cute smile?
*The sun and the fog the other morning were kinda cool together.
*After 3 years in this house, I am finally saying goodbye to the brown panelling under our windows.
*We are learning to play a new sport this year.  Go Eagles!
Go ahead and tell me all about your week and have a super FAB weekend:-)

Our Last Two Weeks of Crazy…

The last two weeks we have been busy…
like insanely busy!
First the kids left to go camping with Grandma and Papa on Monday,
while we went on our church staff retreat.  They humored me with a few pictures.
We had some sessions and then some ziplining fun on the retreat!
FYI bucket hats look goofy on everyone.
We came home on Friday, and I baked/frosted 100 cupcakes for Saturday!!!

Then on Sunday we left for a week of beach fun with my family!
It was gorgeous there!!!  I miss it already.
This is probably the funniest picture I captured at the beach!!
I wasn’t really planning on sharing any of these pics, BUT
this one cracked me up too much!

Family pics are always a must when we go to the beach.
My sister was willing to play/practice with her camera, so I didn’t have to use the tripod this year. Yay!

Now I just have to decide which one to print big for my wall at home…
the faraway shot or the up close?  Any thoughts???
Can you believe we actually didn’t coordinate our colors!?!
How fun is it that we all brought some black, orange/coral, and turquoise!

Just a few more shots of the orange-ness…
Our “catch” of the day snapshot!  LOL!
My hubby hates all the “posed” pictures and is always trying to get a funny pic.
This one didn’t turn out quite as funny as I had hoped…still a little too posed I guess!!

Although there was plenty of goofing around with my sisters!!!
Oh, and showing off our muscles too!
Love these girlies!!!  So glad we were able to get together again!

Lots of goodies while we were gone…
We tried some new coffee from TJMaxx…I’m loving the Whoopie Pie flavor:-)
Chocolate Chip Frapp from McD”s is awesome, but pretty sweet!
And Dunkin Donuts is yummy every single time…yes, we went twice in 5 days!
Hey, it was vacation!  Calories don’t count then.
We got home really late Saturday night and had one day to get ready for this…

yup, Summer is over…and the kids are back in school!!!
Sheesh!  Two weeks of wild and crazy running…I’m ready to relax a little.
It’s a good thing I have 8 hours of relaxing time eeerrr house cleaning time each day now;-)

Randomness of Our Week

This week we…
went camping with my inlaws.
Thank goodness for ooey gooey smores to distract me
from thinking I would die when someone attacked at night!!!
saw beautiful skies like this while out walking at night.

let the kids enjoy this awesome splash park.  There is no staying dry in that one.

ate this yummy treat for breakfast…yup, you read that right…
s’mores inspired breakfast:-)
sent the two youngest munchkins off to church camp…the house has been so quiet!
waited in line for Chic-fil-a for 2 1/2 hours…well worth it to show our support!

ate a berry sundae at Sam’s with chocolate syrup…
best idea of the week goes to my hubby for the chocolate idea.
He knows me oh so well:-)
ordered Dippin Dots online because my hubby is obsessed with them…
3 gallons that need to be eaten within 24 hours of receiving them.
Good thing we bought more dry ice because that’s a lot of dots!!!

made pizza with a cauliflower crust…it was actually really really good.
I was way impressed with how yummy it was.
(The recipe we used can be found HERE!!!)
What fun things did you do this week???

Shaving Cream Battle

Want to surprise your bored kids this week?
Buy shaving cream…
…then give each kid 1 bottle to use as they wish.
The only rule…keep it out of the other person’s eyes!
Try really hard not to laugh as you are taking pictures of the fun!!!
The 30 minute battle will still be a topic of conversation many weeks later!
And the hilarious hair stylings that happened after…will be priceless!!!!
Good luck getting all that off with just a sprinkler:-)
Is it on your bucket list yet???

Our Cruise and Florida Vacation

We were able to get away about 2 weeks ago and take our kids on a cruise and then spend
some time in Florida just relaxing and doing a whole lot of “nothing”!
I hope you are ready for some pictures cause I have lots for ya!!!
Our ship – the Carnival Ecstasy – it is an older boat…
which was cool with us because with 5 in our family,
most of the newer ones make you pay for another room.
Not this one…we crammed all of us into 1 room:-)  Hello fold down bunks and extra cot!
Needless to say we didn’t stay in the room very much!
So I have to admit I am a bingo junkie…call me an oldie, but I love to play.
At the last minute my hubby bought me a card for the first jackpot!
GUESS WHAT?
We won…along with 2 other people!
I was so excited when I jumped up and yelled Bingo…
then I realized that there were 2 other ladies just as excited.
Oh well, so much for winning the full jackpot!!!
Thank you cruise for paying for all our tips for the week though:-)
Our first port was Nassau, Bahamas.
We walked around just a little bit.  Looked at a few things in the Straw Market.
Watched a parade.  And then headed to the beach.
Can you believe this is the only picture I got of all of us together??
By the time the guy taking the picture figured out how to work my camera,
the kids were done looking and smiling.  Lovely!
We brought some snorkel gear with us and taught the boys how to use it…
well, it didn’t really fit the scrawny one, so he had to stick with plain swimming goggles.
Our oldest didn’t even want to come out of the water.
We were ready to head back to the boat and he was in his own world watching fish.
He didn’t even see the shells that my hubby was tossing at him trying to get his attention:-)
Stop number two…Half Moon Cay island!
It was gorgeous!!!  I wish we had more time to spend here!!!
We did some more snorkeling…this time with a barracuda.
Yup, you read that right.
A BARRACUDA…are we nuts or what?
Let me tell you, I was kind of freaked out.
Yes, the thing was just swimming around with about 20 people,
but I thought for sure he was going to take one look at me and think “Lunch”!
Luckily for me and my legs, I got out of the water and we enjoyed a BBQ on the beach!
Want to know something???
Desserts on cruises are actually pretty nasty!
Don’t let all these pretty treats fool you.
Believe me I know, because I tried almost every single one.
I have this theory that if we paid all this money for the cruise,
I had better eat enough to get my moneys worth:-)
And I have the snug pants to prove it!
Apparently my son felt the same way…
he was in awe with the soft serve ice cream machine that was in service 24/7.
I think his total was 17 bowls by the time we left the boat.
He even added bacon to his breakfast bowl.
Maybe a future foodie???
See I told you I tried a lot.
What?  It was all for research.
I am a dessert blogger after all…I had to sample each one.
Luckily I did just sample…most of them weren’t even worthy of a second bite.
We figured that they make everything super cheap
because of the amount of food people throw away.
I was guilty of it too!
But if they would have just made it taste a little better, I wouldn’t have to throw it away, right?
The last night of the cruise and we were able to watch an amazing sunset!
It was absolutely breath taking!
Our God has created some amazing things and I am so thankful
we were able to see so many beautiful things this week.
After the cruise we headed to Orlando,
and finished out the rest of the week at the Sheraton Vistana Villages.
We spent our week swimming, playing tennis, shuffle board,
having an UNO competition, and swimming more.
Triple decker chicken fight anyone?
While we were here, this was as close to Disney as we got.
As much as I wanted to make it back to the Harry Potter world,
we decided not to spend the extra money.
So one of the days we headed to Downtown Disney for some shopping.
Although we didn’t actually buy anything.
It started to rain so we headed to the movies
and saw Snow White and the Huntsman.  Great movie!
Our last full day we drove down to Tampa to check out the beaches there.
We made it to outside Tampa and all of a sudden it started to down pour.
It wasn’t looking very promising, but we kept going and sure enough in true Florida fashion
the rain stopped and the sun came out for a little bit.
We had about an hour of fun time at the beach, before we headed into town for some seafood.
It was a great start to our summer vacation
and I am so thankful that we were able to spend the time with our kids.

Enjoying Summer with Skinny Cow

You scream, we scream,
we all scream for ice cream….
and low fat ice cream makes me scream even louder.
**GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED**
The winner is #35…Nat who said,
My favorite summer time thing…has to be outdoor bbq’s! :)

There are so many things about summer time that we enjoy…

sprinklers, baseball, lazy days at the pool, and lots of ice cream.
We usually keep freeze pops and popsicles by the case in our big freezer.
Skinny Cow has quite a few varieties
of low fat ice cream sandwiches and bars.
The other day after baseball was over we picked up a few boxes to try.
At the store we picked out the caramel truffle bars
and the cookies and cream sandwiches.
Both of these kinds were really delicious, but
I think the cookies and cream was my favorite.
(the cookie bits in the ice cream just put me over the edge:-)
The ice cream was really creamy and the wafers were soft…
just how I like them!!!
On the next visit to the grocery store
I am thinking the mocha bars just might have to come home with us.
Oh, and the strawberry shortcake sandwiches too!
Did I mention they are low fat?
100 calorie bars won’t ruin the diet…
just the thing since swim suit season is almost here.
How would you like your own free bars
and sandwiches to enjoy on a hot summer day?
Skinny Cow sent this cute insulated bag,
which would be the perfect thing for ice cream on the go,
and coupons for 2 free boxes of ice cream to fill the bag with.
And then because I heart all my readers so much,
I put together a fun little box of fruit notepads and pens from Target.
One lucky reader will get all of these fun goodies!!!
I don’t know about you,
but I just love having cute note pads and pens in my purse at all times.
