Caramel Pretzel Peanut Butter M&M Bars

Caramel Pretzel Peanut Butter M&M Bars
Haha! I should have known the bag of Rolos that I bought
at the beginning of October
wasn’t going to last until Halloween.
Sorry trick or treaters that stopped at my house this year,
I decided to go on a baking binge…
so no Rolos for you!
The Rolos were yelling (more like screaming) out from the cupboard
to be used in some sort of “just because” treat.
(you know you hear candy talking to you too, so don’t think I’m strange:-)

I want to introduce you to my newest best (cookie) friend…
To say it was delicious is an understatement.
I mean when a cookie is full of Rolos and Peanut Butter M&M’s
it has to be yummy!
Oh and it had pretzels, can’t forget the pretzels…
For some reason this flavor combo is my newest vice.
Blonde Brownies with Rolos
I find myself combining these flavors in all sorts of things…
then realizing that they all sound/taste the same.
Remember the Take 5 bars from HERE?
Yup, almost the same ingredients.
And I made cookies the other day…
wanna know what was in them?
You guessed it…
peanut butter, caramel, and pretzel!
One of these days, I will break away
and try something new…

Wanna meet another friend of mine???
I adore Aimee from Shugary Sweets.
We have decided that we are twins lost at birth…
seriously we have sooooo much in common, it isn’t funny!
She has quickly become one of my baking blog BFF’s.
I mean anyone that will mail you one of their Biscoff jars,
when you can’t find it local…
is a true friend FOR SURE!!!!
And the best news…
she lives within a few hours of me,
so we are for sure going to meet up and have lunch one of these days.
Now the SAME EXACT day that I was using up my rolos…
she was baking up a storm with hers!
See twins for sure…we have telepathic minds!!!
You have to go check out her blog…
so much yumminess there it isn’t funny!
She made you some Chocolate Rolo Cupcakes just for the occasion.
Don’t worry about me.
I’ll be here when you get back…
the Caramel Pretzel Peanut Butter M&M Bars unfortunately may not:-)
Guess that means an extra workout session is in order!

2 eggs
1 stick butter, room temperature
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
1 cup peanut butter M&M’s
1 1/2 cups chopped pretzels
50 Rolos, unwrapped

  2. Press the Rolos randomly into the batter. Bake for 25-30 minutes. (We like them under baked so, did 25 minutes.) Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. These are even better the next day. Store in a covered container on the counter for 5-6 days. Cut into 24 squares.

Blast from the Past!

Slightly under baked Congo Bars are a great recipe to make the next time you have company over.
Congo Bars, chocolate chip blonde brownies

All through high school, I made these gooey bars of deliciousness
for every youth group event that needed food.
It was must my sure fire recipe that never failed me
and was always asked for.
Then I went to college, got married, had kids
and forgot about these treats…
until a few months ago when
I was going through some old recipes. Now you may think they are just a blonde brownie
what is the big deal?
Congo Bar chips
I can’t explain it…
they just have a slightly different taste.
But boy are they good!!!
I just had to whip up a batch to savor
the old memories:-)

Now I like mine just slightly underbaked…
not gooey, but not cake like either.
And I think they taste better after sitting covered over night.
But that is just me:-)
