Reese’s Rocky Road Brownies

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces give that extra peanut butter taste to these Reese’s Rocky Road Brownies.

Reese's Rocky Road Brownies, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese's Pieces, brownies

One thing that I have always done since getting married is wash and fold the laundry.  As a stay at home mom, it is just one of those things you do without really thinking about it.  And quite honestly, I don’t mind doing laundry.  Well, most days that is :-)

When the kids were younger, I also sorted all the folded clothes into piles and put everyone’s clothes into their drawers.  I like neat organized piles, and I like drawers that are clean looking.  As the kids got older, one of the jobs that I “gave up” was putting the folded laundry away.  It was time for them to learn some responsibility and for them to take on more chores.  This resulted in me having to give up control of those neat organized drawers.

Seriously I’m not sure why I still fold their clothes because when they put it away it is shoved in every which way possible.  For my sanity’s sake, I try not to look in those drawers.  The mess drives me to want more chocolate…and more Reese’s candies.

Reese's Rocky Road Brownies, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese's Pieces, brownies

I have decided that no matter what “diet” I am on or trying to do, I just can’t give up my beloved peanut butter and chocolate.  Plus, I have see how you guys go crazy for the recipes using that wonderful combo.  You all are just as nuts for that good stuff.  LOL that pun was totally intended.

So the other day when I helped my daughter organize her entire room (drawers included) I knew that some sort of chocolate brownie was needed after hours of organizing.  It was the only thing that helped get me off the “why is your room such a pig sty” ledge that I was on.   Adding Reese’s peanut butter cups under the melty marshmallow layer AND Reese’s pieces on top was just the thing I needed to put me into a sugar coma of forgetfulness.

What messy drawers?

Reese's Rocky Road Brownies, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese's Pieces, brownies

This is such an easy brownie recipe  to put together.  Bake your favorite brownies.  Go ahead and use a mix or go all homemade if that’s how you roll.  Most days I’m a brownie mix fan, but you do what you have to do.

As soon as the brownies come out of the oven, place an entire bag of those Reese’s mini peanut butter cups on top.  You need to work quickly because they will start to melt and slide.  That’s not a problem though because then you are going to cover it with a layer of peanuts and marshmallows.   Put it back in the oven to get all warm and toasty for about 5 minutes.  As soon as they come out, add the Reese’s Pieces to the top for some fun color and texture.

This is definitely a brownie for the serious sugar lover.  Grab a cup of milk and dig in!!

Chocolate Reese’s Cheesecake

Desserts made with chocolate and Reese’s are definitely my favorite part of the meal.  Don’t you just want to sink your teeth into a Chocolate Reese’s Cheesecake?

Chocolate Reese's Cheesecake, Reese's, Hershey's, peanut butter cups, chocolate cheesecake

Is it bad that I can’t stop thinking of new ways to enjoy more Reese’s candies?  It has been awhile since I made mini cheesecakes, and I had some peanut butter cups to use up.

That sounded funny because usually Reese’s peanut butter cups don’t last more than a day in our house.  I used to have my kids trained to bring me their peanut butter cups…then they grew up and realized that peanut butter cups are like the best candy ever.  They now hide their Reese’s from me.  Silly kids :-)

Chocolate Reese's Cheesecake, Reese's, Hershey's, peanut butter cups, chocolate cheesecake

Don’t they know that I have a cupboard full of candy, and there is usually some sort of Reese’s hiding in there.  I just make sure to put the spices and baking powder in the front, so no one will ever know what is in the very back.

Ok, now I realized after typing that, that I sound very selfish and that I have a candy addiction.  The candy addiction is a real problem, but I do share all my candy with my family.  Honest.  I just like to bake with it before sharing.

DSC_0606-1

This week I put together a chocolate cheesecake with a peanut butter mousse on top.   I was going for a take on my favorite Reese’s candy.  The peanut butter mousse is so light and fluffy!  I didn’t add any extra sugar to this layer because of the whole container of Cool Whip.  If you eat that part just by itself, you might think it isn’t too sweet.  But wait until you bite into one of these cheesecakes.  There is plenty of sugar in the bottom layer and in the candy on top to balance it all out.

DSC_0632-1

Now a true Reese’s cheesecake had to have some peanut butter cups in it.  So I chopped a whole bunch of peanut butter cups (and ate a few while I was at it), then dropped a bunch of those chopped candies right on top of the cheesecakes.  They turned out so pretty.

Chocolate Reese's Cheesecake, Reese's, Hershey's, peanut butter cups, chocolate cheesecake

I love all the layers in these!!!

It is a very good thing I started running again this week.  After eating a few of these, plus the extra candy, I probably should have run a little bit more.  That’s on the agenda for this week.

Right after I bake some more yummy treats :-)

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow

Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow

It’s official.  Puppy chow is my new snack love!  I made Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow for the Super Bowl party we are headed to this afternoon…and it is amazing!!!

Let’s talk puppy chow for a minute.  No, it isn’t really for puppies, even though that is what the name suggests.  There have been so many comments all over pinterest about how chocolate isn’t good for dogs!  Hello!!!  People read the ingredient list…do you feed that stuff to your dogs?  Because I don’t. Well, unless she steals the bag of chow from the counter…which does happen here if we aren’t careful.  But I don’t GIVE it to her.  I have also seen it called Muddy Buddies, and to me that name isn’t much better, because who eats mud.  Right?

Whatever you call it, just call it good!!!   I mean it’s cereal coated in melty chocolate goodness and doused in a whole lot of powdered sugar.  How could you not love the stuff?

Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow

Now I know that I just posted the Mocha Cappuccino puppy chow recipe on Thursday, and here I am with another puppy chow for you today.  But in my defense, this Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow was way too good to wait any longer.  I just had to share it with you right away.  I mean it has 4 different kinds of Reese’s loving going on in it.  You can see why I couldn’t wait another day!

Ok, ok!  Fine, I had to share it right away for two reasons.  1.  It was amazing!!!!  You needed it.  2.  I didn’t want to wait…because I just knew one of my amazing blog friends might have this chow version up their sleeves…so I didn’t want to be disappointed when I googled it a week from now, and someone else had already made it.  :-)

Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow

For this batch of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow, I used more chocolate so the powdered sugar would stick a little bit heavier.  If you do not want so much powder, feel free to use a little less.  Have you used the CandiQuik melting chocolate before?  I love that it comes with it’s own melting tray.   I just opened the outer package and put the tray in the microwave.  Once the chocolate was melted, I added the peanut butter right to the tray and stirred it in.  It saves me one dish to clean later.  Gotta love that!

Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow

A yummy Reese’s snack that takes less than 10 minutes to make?  That’s my kind of treat!

Did I say I was taking this to a party today???

I think I feel a cold coming on…I better stay home and make it feel better with Peanut Butter Cup Puppy Chow :-)

Fluffernutter Fudge Brownies

I recently learned something new about my desserts…

fluffernutter fudge brownies, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese's Pieces, fudge brownies
They can be used just like money in certain situations.
My oldest son has been using desserts in trades to get more/better lunches at school.
At lunch time, he gives anyone who wants a “taste” of the sweets…
then whoever will trade him the best lunch item, gets the goodies.
fluffernutter fudge brownies, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese's Pieces, fudge brownies
So far he has gotten pizza, garlic bread, and a plate of french fries.
I haven’t decided whether to be upset that he is trading away his lunch that I lovingly made,
or happy because so many of his friends are wanting my sweets…
For now I am going with happy because everyone likes good reviews of the things they make.
It is just like getting comments on this blog from someone who made your recipe and loved it.
Which by the way, I LOVE to hear from you guys when that happens.
Totally makes my day…just sayin:-)

If you are looking for a fast and easy brownie to take to any picnics or family gatherings,
these Fluffernutter Fudge Brownies have your name written all over them.
Chocolate brownies made from a box…or get jiggy and make one from scratch if you like….whatev.
I’m kind of a box mix girl for now.  But only because of convenience.
Then whip up an easy fudge from chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk
and fill it with whatever candy floats your boat.
My boat is always floating with marshmallows and Reese’s candies.
Something about that peanut butter and marshmallow stuff that just gets me every single time.
Last week I made a pan of these for our church picnic…
and the only thing that came home from the picnic was a plate of crumbs.
Love it when that happens.
Of course my son wasn’t too happy because then he didn’t have anything to barter with on Monday.
He actually had to eat his own lunch that day.

I guess he forgot about the cookies in the freezer.  Ooops!

Reeses Popcorn Munch

There is a debate that goes on in our household
every year about this time.
It is the question of,
what color lights go on our tree?
Unfortunately I am the only one who wants white lights,
so that makes me the bad guy.
This year my husband wanted to put the white lights on…
and then put the colored lights on too.
Now in my head this sounded like a bad idea,
but no way was I going to admit that.

Align Center

Some things that I have discovered while doing these videos…

*It wasn’t as hard as what I was afraid of…now don’t get me wrong…
it is super tough and I am panting and sweating my way through each video.
*Yoga is for the birds. I have been doing the extra cardio video in place of it.
Anyone out there that likes yoga? More power to ya! I would rather be moving;-)
*New sore muscles each morning are just going to happen. Imagine the pain
I am feeling right now after about a billion girly push ups…and that was 2 days ago!
*Those of you who warned me of the superman and banana…uuuuggggg is all I have to say!
*You will actually gain weight the first week of doing this! Believe me NOT COOL!!!!
I realize that it is just muscles growing so that they can shrink…but come on already…
with all the sweating going on I should have lost some right?
*Determination is needed to keep yourself going each morning…
or even just to push play each day:-)

Peanut Butter Explosion Cake, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey's

Personally I would rather dive into a big slice of this yummy Peanut Butter Explosion Cake
but probably not in the diet guide.
So if you make this cake…
remember me and my sugar deprived body
while you are enjoying it!

I was looking through some old pics and realized that I never
shared this cake from my birthday.
Yes, I made my own cake if you were wondering:-)
Believe me it is better that way!
My hubby handles dinner and I do all the baking!
We work well together!!!
Plus I knew exactly what I wanted in it:-)
and I like doing it!

If you don’t like peanut butter,
you probably should stop reading right now.
This cake is not for you!

Otherwise onward to the deliciousness…

Peanut Butter Explosion Cake

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 12 servings

Peanut Butter Explosion Cake

Chocolate cake filled with Peanut Butter Butter Cream and Reese's Peanut Butter cups and topped with a Chocolate Butter Cream.

Ingredients

2 chocolate cake mixes
1 bag of the Reese's Mini Peanut Butter Cups
12 Reese's Peanut Butter cups
Honey Peanut Butter Cream
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 Tablespoons water
3 Tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
4 cups powdered sugar
Chocolate Butter Cream
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 Tablespoons water
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup dark cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350* Make up each cake mix individually and stir in half a bag of mini reeses in each mix. Bake in two 8x2 inch cake pans that has been greased and floured for about 30 minutes. (you will have a little extra batter…make cupcakes and freeze for later consumption:-) Follow your baking instructions on the back of the box. After each layer has cooled completely, cut each one in half.
  2. Start making the peanut butter frosting by creaming the butter and peanut butter. Add the water, salt, honey, and vanilla and cream again. Slowly add the powdered sugar. Fill each layer with the honey peanut butter frosting.
  3. Make the chocolate butter cream by creaming the butter, vanilla, 3 tbsp. water, and salt until creamy. Slowly add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder. If it is still too thick, add the other tbsp. water and beat. Cover the outside with a very thick layer of chocolate frosting. I used a fun frosting comb on the sides, but fork prongs would work too. Pipe some fun swirls of peanut butter frosting on top and accent with the extra Reese's.

Notes

If you are using a regular sized round cake pan, only use one cake mix and divide it between the pans. You will need 2 cake mixes if you use a cake pan that is two inches high.

Reeses Brownie Bite Turkeys

I just knew that this month I wanted to create
some sort of edible turkey…
but what to make???

I googled turkey treats and found tons
of the same ones made out of oreos.
Those are cute and all, but call me crazy…
I wanted to come up with some thing slightly original.

Yes, I do know edible turkey treats are NOT an

original idea, but I hope you enjoy
my take on the brownie bite turkey.
(plus to make it even more original, I FORGOT to add his gobble…
I just realized it when I was adding the pics)

You knew brownie bites were coming, right????

10 bonus points to those that spotted that one right away:-)
I couldn’t help myself…
brownie bites were the perfect body for this “sweet” guy!

I need to caution you…
these are only for the SERIOUS chocolate lover!!!
They have chocolate all over them…
just warning you now:-)

And to fill these brownie bites, I used up some of the
reeses peanut butter cups that were lurking in my cupboard.
These would be a great thanksgiving day “craft”
to do with your kids.
They could easily dip the pretzel sticks and put the sprinkles on.

Reeses Brownie Bite Turkeys

Prep Time: 1 hour

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Yield: 15 brownie turkeys

Reeses Brownie Bite Turkeys

Brownies and peanut butter cups dipped in chocolate and decorated with chocolate covered pretzels for a fun turkey treat.

Ingredients

75 mini pretzel sticks
30 Reeses peanut butter cups
30 yellow Reeses pieces
1 container fall sprinkles
1 pkg. chocolate Candiquik
1 oz. white chocolate Candiquik
15 candy corn candies
30 twist pretzels

Instructions

  1. Bake the brownies according to the package. Cool.
  2. Melt the chocolate melts and dip the pretzels sticks. Sprinkle with fall sprinkles. Dip the pretzel twist and let set.
  3. Cut the tip off an Indian candy corn and add a small dab of melted chocolate to it. Attach to the front of a peanut butter cup. Melt the white chocolate. Use a toothpick to drop some white chocolate on for the eyes. When they have set, dab a little brown in the center for the eyeballs.
  4. Once your brownies are cool, cut into 15 squares and place a peanut butter cup in the center. Roll up. Place in the freezer for 30 minutes. Dip in chocolate and let set.
  5. Attach your peanut butter cup head to the top of the bite with some chocolate. Dip the bottom ends of the sprinkled pretzels in choc and attach to the back of the bite. Hold for a minute or it will fall off. Attach the pretzel twists to the sides the same way.
  6. Dip the tip of the Reeses pieces in chocolate and attach to the front for feet.

Ultimate Reeses Cheesecake Brownie Bars

Cheesecake brownies with Reeses
After last weeks crazy flower making fest…
I needed brownies and Reeses BAD!
So I just whipped up this yummilicious pan of goodies.
I loved them…
My thighs…not so much,
but oh well, they will get over it.

I might have to work out extra hard this week
to make up for eating so many;-)

Want me to share them with you?

What??? Your thighs said “No thank you”
Well, you know what???
Too bad!!!

They were way too good not to share:-)
I am sure your thighs will forgive you after the first bite!

First gather all your ingredients for the recipe.

I may have gone overboard on the Reeses…
NNNNNAAAAAAHHHH!
This is a Reeses lovin household…
not a thing as too many here!!!

Oh sweet bowl of chocolatey peanut buttery goodness!!!!
I just want to dive into you head first.

Remember Duck Tails
and how Scrooge McDuck swam in his money…
it would be much better if the pool was filled with this:-)
