Coffee Chip Oreo Truffle Bark

Coffee Oreo Truffles

Does anyone else remember the Oreos filled with a coffee cream?  It has been years since they made them, but almost every single time my husband and I see Oreos in the grocery store, we talk about how good those coffee ones were.   Let me tell you…we are talking “eat the entire package” good!  (They even inspired this yummy Mocha Oreo Cheesecake a few years ago.)

There aren’t too many things that I would actually eat an entire package of in one sitting (well Reeses, duh), but these particular Oreos were worthy of eating all of them at once.  Maybe it is a good thing that they stopped making them…for the sake of my pants and thighs.

Mint Brownie Swirl Fudge

So this morning I stepped on the scale after a week of non-stop holiday cookie and sweets eating.

Oh fudge!!!

Those are not the numbers I was hoping to see.  And we still have New Year’s to get through.  It’s probably time to slow down on the cookie, cake, and fudge consumption.    I did say slow down, not stop if you noticed.  I have tried the whole not eat sugar thing before and it has never lasted very long.  So, I’m going to limit myself…severely limit mind you!  I may even just taste and not swallow.  LOL!  Like that’s going to happen.   [Read more...]

Today I am joining a wonderful group of blog friends in Cookies & Crafts for Sandy Hook.   (I know I’m stretching it slightly by calling this an edible craft:-)    This past week I was reminded again of how fragile our life on Earth is.  God has given us a precious gift in our children.  We love and serve them every day without thinking.  My heart breaks as I think of how much hurt those parents must be feeling right now.  How can me posting a tribute help them?  It can’t, but it can let them know we are in this together.  We will continue to pray for them in the coming weeks.   My prayer for the parents is that they rest in the faith that we have a great and loving God who wants us to lean on Him in times of hurt and despair.  He is greater than any fear or hurt we can experience.  His love covers all!   [Read more...]

Baked Biscoff M&M Donuts

One of the traditions we always did when our kids were little was to leave milk and cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve.  And every year my husband tried to convince the kids that “Santa” would rather have White Castle burgers and Grape Soda.  Our kids never believed him though, and so cookies and milk were always left by the tree.  As the kids got older, they just realized that “Santa” is really just mom and dad.

Although one year we got them really good.  It was the year they were 2, 4, and 6.  The oldest was trying to convince the younger two that Santa wasn’t real.  We were ok with that.  It wasn’t something we have every really tried to convince our kids of.  It was just a fun tradition.   [Read more...]

Peppermint Patty Gooey Cake Bars

Peppermint Patty Gooey Cake Bars - easy cake mix bars filled with York Peppermint Patties

The other day I wanted chocolate.  I had to have something right away!

There is always some sort of candy in my baking cupboard, but I wanted something more than just a chocolate bar.  I kept thinking about these candy corn gooey cake bars and how good they were.  As I dug through the cupboard, I pulled out a bag of York peppermint patties.  What kind of yummy dessert could I come up with???

The wheels in my head started turning and I grabbed a chocolate cake mix and got working.   [Read more...]

Chocolate Zucchini Donuts

So many random thoughts going through my head today…

Chocolate Zucchini Donuts | Inside BruCrew Life

*Why do I stay up so late every night and then think I will get up “early” the next day?
I have such a bad habit of “burning the midnight oil”…oh, it’s way past midnight
before I shut it all down and head to bed…every single night.
No wonder my body doesn’t function properly!

Red Hot Oreo Fudge

Red Hot Oreo Fudge - two layers of fudge mixed with Oreo chunks and red hot candies #fudge #Oreo #redhots

Today is a super fun day!
You get Red Hot Oreo Fudge…
AND you get directed to 5 other amazing blogs
with more yummy fudge recipes!!!
Just in time for Valentines Day too!
You would think we planned it that way or something:-)
The fudge hop links are at the bottom.
Don’t worry, we will get to them…I promise!!!
But first let’s talk about red hots.
I don’t know why, but when I think of red hots
it reminds me of Valentines.
Can I tell you a secret?
I don’t really like red hots (unless it is in this jello)…
but I discovered that if you melt red hots into vanilla frosting
it turns into a yummy, slightly cinnamony goodness
that is hard to resist!
Believe me I know…because I didn’t resist it very well:-)
It is super easy to make because it only takes 2 ingredients.
I love no fail fudge.
(mostly because I can’t get the real stuff to set up)

Melt the chips…melt the frosting…chill.
Yummy fudge in less than 30 minutes.
Now that’s my kind of fudge!!!
This is technically 4 ingredient fudge
because I added cookies and candies,
but still super easy to make…
and to eat:-)
My biggest advice about this fudge…
use a food processor to crush the red hots if you have one.
I put mine in plastic baggies and
tried to smash the crap out of it with a wooden spoon.
Did you know red hots are super hard?
It took a lot of effort to crush them.
But once I tasted the fudge it was well worth the muscle
I had to put into it.
See how pretty it looks?
Believe me…
it tasted as good as it looks too:-)
Tasted because mine is all gone…that makes me kind of sad.
I’d say it is time to check out some new fudge recipes:-)

Now for the fun part of the Party…
heading to the other blogs and seeing more fudge.
Be prepared to drool A LOT!!!
These 5 girls are some of my most favorite food bloggers!!!
I love reading their blogs
and seeing the yummy treats they come up with.
And they are all sweet as can be! (the girls, not the fudge)
You are going to love them as much as I do!!!

  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips. Stir until melted. Stir in the chocolate frosting and continue stirring until melted and creamy. Stir in the cookie crumbles. Pour into the lined pan. Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until set.

Andes Mint Filled Cookies

There are certain things that drive me to eat more sugar…
…cleaning up a “lake” on the bathroom floor and a
“waterfall” in the basement just happens to be one of those things.
My youngest decided to fill the tub up to the rim
and then proceeded to do some sort of “wave”.
(Apparently this is some sort of pokemon move that
you would use in a battle.)

Caramel Mocha Chip Banana Muffins

I have a love/hate relationship with bananas.
I love to eat them when they are green.
I hate that they ripen so quickly on my counter.
Good thing I use a lot in smoothies and baked goods
because once they turn yellow
I won’t touch them with a ten foot pole.
Plain that is…
I don’t mind them mixed up with other things.

Banana Coffee Whoopie Pies…

Dear Maurices,

First I want to say thank you for always having the cutest clothes that I find most appropriate for my age and position in life….being an almost 35 year old mom that is:-) In the last few years I have come to the realization that I just cannot pull off the young adult/teen styles anymore.

Thank goodness for you being a great store. You have become my all time favorite place to shop now. Did I say shop??? I meant WINDOW shop…I go in and just wander around looking at all the delightful outfits that are on display there.
