The bathroom finally got a makeover!!!
2 1/2 years after we moved in here,
it was time for the green stripes and bridges to go.
It was so dark and dreary,
plus the wallpaper was peeling off in places.
I really can’t believe we waited this long to do it,
but now I can’t imagine it any other way.
One of the perks of having company coming is that
you get lots of home stuff done in a hurry!!!
Can I just tell you how much I despise wallpaper?
Especially wallpaper I didn’t even put up!!!
It is of the devil I am sure.
And it was such a tease.
One piece would come off great, but
then the other 400 tiny little pieces took forever!!!
Talk about a good upper arm workout!
A few people mentioned Downy in the spray bottle,
but if you would have seen how messy I was…
seriously it was running down the walls!!!
Water was probably the best thing for me to have.
Then after removing wallpaper comes the fun of fixing holes.
My husband had homework to work on, so I decided not to wait.
How hard can it really be?
I found out. Not too hard at all.
In fact, it was kind of like frosting a cake.
Plop it on. Smooth it off with a wide spatula.
See, just like a cake.
One thing I really wanted…
and my hubby looked at me like I was crazy.
Was the bead board panelling put up as high as the tub
and framed with trim all around.
But he knows if I have something in my head
that it is better just to do it and then he can laugh
at me later if I decide it doesn’t work!
This wasn’t one of those times!!!
I love love LOVE the high paneling!
The whole bathroom is so much brighter!!!
And with the bright turquoise on top…
it is like our little beach oasis.
Then the cabinet and mirror got a fresh coat of paint of black.
(even with primer it is scratching…so I need to do another coat and put a clear sealer on it)
I can’t seem to get enough of black and white lately.
It is finding itself all over our house!
There are still small things to finish in the bathroom…
caulking, another coat of white, curtains.
You know…the home list that goes on and on and on.
Maybe one day it will be finished!
