Ok, so I did something a little out of the ordinary…
for a shy person that is.
I know that most of you here would never have guessed that I am actually really a shy person.

It’s true…I am really truly shy and find it hard to talk to people in real life.
Thank goodness I talk to most of you through my computer.
Otherwise I would be stuttering and turning red…
and then quite possibly it would all end in tears and embarrassment.

I am much better one on one…most of the time.

blog besties

So, for the past 5-6 months Aimee (from Shugary Sweets) and I
have been scheming when and where we could meet up since we only live 3 hours apart.
Finally I offered to drive out there and visit…she lives near IKEA after all.
Duh, super no brainer.  Meet up with the most awesome bloggy friend…and shop IKEA!

Now that puts me totally outside of my comfort zone…
going out on a branch and driving to meet someone you have never met before.  Yikes!!!
I was a little bit nervous that morning.

But Aimee and I have been commenting on each others blogs and emailing
for about a year and a half…so I totally felt like I knew her.
We have so much in common we are practically twins:-)

Let me tell you what…she is 100 times more awesome in person:-)
We had THE best time that day…going through IKEA first.
Then she took me to this huge grocery store thingy called Jungle Jim’s…
such a way cool place.  You could find anything and everything food related there.

And then we just went back to her house, so our kids could play while we chatted…
oh, and we ate yummy snacks:-)  Boy! Were they yummy!
She had cupcakes, cake, and fudge…oh, the cinnabon fudge.
Totally to die for…seriously THE.BEST.FUDGE.EVER!!!
and I have had a lot of fudge in my life:-)

(Guess what?  She posted the recipe for it today,
so head HERE for the yummy stuff and a way to win some cinnabon goodness )

Now as a good foodie friend, I had to bring her some yummy treats too.
I had some of these Caramel Pretzel Brownie Cheesecakes still in my fridge,
so those came with me to get rid of them share.

But I also wanted to take something else too…
not just something that was in my fridge from the day before.
I knew that Aimee’s favorite treat is the all mighty rice krispie treat…
so that was what was going along for the drive too.

And to top it all off I made the krispies based off her favorite candy bar too…the 100 Grand bar.
Loads of caramel, crisp rice, and all topped with a milk chocolate layer…
oh and sprinkles,  because they just make it look so much cuter:-)

I had such a fun day hanging with Aimee and getting to know her even better.
Our kids had a blast hanging out…helps that they are all the same age.
And they can’t wait for us to do “hang” again.
So, I definitely see us meeting up again very soon.
Next time though, the kids will be in school and we are headed on a bakery crawl.
Totally can’t wait for that!!!

Yup, best blog buds for sure!!!!!

Oh Jocelyn, I’m SO excited for you that you two got the chance to finally meet! I had no idea you lived relatively close–how cool! And a bakery crawl sounds super fun.. I’ll have to set up a date for Dorothy and I to do that since we’re neighbors :) I hope one day all of us bloggy girls can meet up and exchange some of these yummy goodies in real life because I could totally go for one of these bars right now–holy cow, they look good!

Sounds like the most perfect day!! Glad to hear you enjoyed Jungle Jims too! Quite the place huh? If you do a baker crawl in Cincinnati, you have to check out the Bonbonnerie! You will think you’ve died! LOVE the 100 Grand Rice Krispies! To die for!

How fun! So now what is really funny, is that I live 2 hours North…..that’s the Ikea we go to, and we used to live close to Jungle Jim’s! Love Jungle Jim’s! We used to go there after church just to meander and check out the food awesomeness! Thanks for sharing at Must Try Monday :)

Hiya Joce!!! So fun to read about your “blate”! Aren’t bloggy friends just the best? I totally went out on a limb a couple months ago and went on VACATION with one! Oh my gosh. So much fun. I love how blogging can introduce you to some of your best friends…and btw, I don’t think you’re alone in being shy in real life – that’s why we all blog, right?! ;-) Anyway, hope you are well dear, and enjoying your summer!

Aww you guys are too cute! I’m jealous, I wanna get in on that! I too live in Cincinnati and would love to meet up with you ladies next time if you do it again :) I’m shy in real life too. I have yet to meet a bloggy friend in real life. Way to take her to Jungle Jims, Aimee!

OOh SUPER jealous of you going to Jungle Jim’s! I’ve wanted to go to that store for about 20yrs. I haven’t talked hubby into thinking an 8 hr drive to a grocery store is a smart idea yet……YET! LOL

Isn’t IKEA awesome? I love going to that store and spend way too much money there. Thankfully we have two stores within about a 1 1/2 hr drive so that’s a trip we do often. We always buy a ton of their batteries when we go and have been known to make the drive just for those. Of course two of our favorite restaurants are near the store so that totally makes up for the drive.

Thank you for the recipe. It looks good. I have to admit I don’t recall ever posting on your blog before but have been here MANY times. For a long period of time the blog was taking an extremely long time to load and I’d give up. Thankfully it seems to be moving quicker now. I love your recipes although do admit they are not too good for our health around here considering we have some diabetic issues in our household to deal with. oops. I’ll try to comment more often now and say hi. :)

So cool that you got to meet a bloggy friend! And I’m jealous you got to spend your day at IKEA. I don’t have one near here so I haven’t been in years. Love the Cinnabon Fudge and these crispy treats are to die for!

  10. says

Your treats look awesome, Jocelyn! Love your photos! So glad you shared them on my Blog Hop! I’m like you…I feel more comfortable behind my computer. ;)

  11. says

Oh how fun you two must have had! I would love to meet some of my fave blog girls! Lucky you! These look so good and I am featuring them on TTT this week! Have a great one :)

Wow, these look so tasty! I’m curious, though. What purpose does the shortening serve in the chocolate? I almost never buy it, and I’d hate to have to for just one recipe. Is it just to make the chocolate easier to spread?

    • says

The shortening does just thin it out enough to spread a little bit easier. You could melt the chips without it too if you didn’t want to buy the shortening, or use a little bit of real butter.
