Ok, we are headed back on the skinny train today. Yes, right now my blog feels a little bi-polar. Dessert…healthy recipe…dessert…healthy recipe. Gotta love this time of year, right?
Can I confess something though? I have been having fun coming up with healthier recipes and ideas. Right now we have been trying hard to incorporate more healthy options to our eating and to resist to all the baked goods that I am still making. It’s been hard, but totally worth it. 4 pounds of sludge has been eliminated…now to keep it off (and more hopefully) by making these healthy eating habits a life style change.
Working out is something that I have to talk myself into. I have never been one of those people that gets an exercise high. My excitement comes when I do that last move, and know I am done for the day. That get’s me pretty excited!
A few months ago my husband and I joined a gym. One with real weights. Barbells, sand bags, medicine balls…the real deal. They put up a new work out each day on the white board that we have been trying. The first time I saw box jumps on the list, I told myself that there was no way. Sure enough, I tried and just about fell on my face. So, step ups were what I resorted to doing.
Fast forward 2 months and there are those dang box jumps on the list again. (they have been there a few other times, but I still kept doing step ups) I stared that box down and decided that I was going to do it today. All it takes is getting past the mental block that I kept putting there. I stepped up to the box and did it on the first try. I think I ended up doing a total of 35 jumps that day! Woo hoo! That 20 inch box has nothing on me!
Now to face that mental block about healthy eating. Same thing happened there a few months ago. I tried doing a 24 Day Challenge and adding healthy eating in. I told myself that the holidays were coming, so it was ok to not eat completely right. It ended ok because I was down 5 1/2 inches over all. Not too shabby! But this time around, I keep telling myself that healthy eating is good. and that I like it. It’s all about making those little changes, right? Eventually enough little changes add up to a big difference.
This Skinny Cherry Banana Smoothie is one of my favorite lunch options. Now I don’t eat it every day because I am watching how much fruit I eat. There is sugar after all in fruit. At least that sugar is a little better than the brownie sugar, right? By adding greek yogurt and protein powder this totally makes a delicious meal replacement shake. All the protein keeps me full longer…at least until I need to eat my next healthy snack.
Bye, bye mental block! I am so over you!
