Bright colored fall sprinkles and chocolate covered pretzels make the perfect tail feathers for this Pretzel Turkey Jar. This fun no bake treat will be the cutest edible centerpiece for your Thanksgiving dessert table.
Ok, guys I have the easiest and cutest treat to share with you. You just have to make a pretzel turkey for your Thanksgiving Day tables this year!
Yes, I'm sure you are already on top of things and have your turkey day menu already planned out with things like easy corn casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, southern sweet potato souffle, and rolls.
But trust me, you need to add this fun and edible Thanksgiving craft to your plans too. Ok, maybe add two things to your plans because these small chocolate turkeys would be so cute on the table too!
The Cutest Pretzel Turkey
Everyone will be so impressed by your creativity when they see the turkey centerpiece on your dinner table. No one has to know just how easy it is to make.
Want to give it as a gift? Wrap the turkey jar with chocolate covered pretzels in a large plastic gift bag with a bow. Cute Thanksgiving pretzels are sure to make anyone smile this holiday season.
Chocolate covered pretzels are one of my favorite treats to make for parties. They are seriously one of the quickest and easiest treats to make in minutes. Plus, kids of all ages love chocolate and pretzels.
Dip the pretzel rods in dark chocolate and covered them in bright fall colored sprinkles to mimic a turkey's tail feathers. The best part about these chocolate pretzel treats is that they come in a glass jar decorated like a turkey!
While the pretzels are drying, add some googly eyes and a felt beak to a glass jar with a glue gun. I also added an orange heart to the bottom of the jar for his feet.
Supplies needed for a Turkey Jar
You can find everything you need for this Thanksgiving craft at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnn's, or Walmart.
- Orange & Red Felt
- Scissors - Fabric scissors will work the best to cut through the felt.
- 23 mm googly eyes - If you are using a larger or smaller jar, you may need to buy a different size.
- Glue Sticks & Glue Gun
- Glass Jar - I found this 5.6 x 4.8 inch round glass jar in the floral department of Hobby Lobby.
- Pretzel Rods
- Chocolate Melting Wafers - We like Ghirardelli melting wafers the best because they melt good and taste delicious.
How to Make a Turkey Jar
It is so easy to put together the pieces for this cute little turkey jar. All you have to do is cut a few pieces and glue them to a glass jar. It really is that super simple.
- Cut the orange felt into a 4 ยฝ inch by 4 ยฝ inch square. Fold it in half and cut a heart out of it for the feet.
- Cut another 1 inch by 1 inch square out of the orange felt. Use this to cut a triangle for the beak.
- Cut the red felt into a 1 inch by 2 inch rectangle. Cut a "j" shape out of this for the wattle.
- Use the glue gun to attach the heart to the bottom of the jar.
- Dot glue on the front of the jar where you want the eyes. Place the eyes on the warm glue.
- Place another line of glue below the eyes and attach the beak and wattle.
How to make Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Adding fall colored sprinkles to chocolate dipped pretzel rods is easy to do in minutes. Spoon the melted chocolate into a tall mason jar, so it is easier to dip the pretzels.
- Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the chocolate melting wafers according to the package directions.
- Dip each pretzel in the melted chocolate and let the excess drip off.
- Place on the pan and add sprinkles right away.
- Let the chocolate dry before moving.

Filler Ideas
You can use any candy that you like. Just make sure it is small enough so that you can push the pretzels into the candy easily.
The chocolate candy gives the turkey his "body" and holds the Thanksgiving chocolate covered pretzels in place.
- Brown M&M's
- Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans
- Chocolate Covered Raisins
- Chocolate Covered Nuts
- Brown Sprinkles
- Candy Corn
Easy, peasy and cutesy squeezey! Your Thanksgiving day table totally needs one of these as a center piece.
How to Store
These chocolate covered pretzel rods can be made ahead of time and placed in an airtight container or bag at room temperature. As long as the container is clean and sealed tightly, the pretzels should stay fresh for 1-2 weeks.
