Making homemade treats like buckeye pretzels and pretzel bark is a favorite holiday activity of mine. This layered caramel pretzel bark is especially delicious, so I recommend giving it away quickly.
Every time I walked by it in the kitchen, I couldn't resist grabbing pieces. It's one of my favorite last-minute holiday desserts to make when time is tight, but I still want to bring something homemade.
I love sharing these salty treats with friends and neighbors. They make an easy dessert for holiday parties, cookie exchanges, or edible food gifts. I love them because they are simple, festive, and always disappear quickly during Christmas.
Why You'll Love Chocolate Pretzel Bark
- Quick and easy to make. This chocolate pretzel bark comes together in about 10 minutes. It's perfect for busy days when you still want something homemade.
- No bake and little effort. No oven needed; just melt, spread, and chill for a stress-free dessert.
- Perfect for sharing. This bark is great for holiday parties or a relaxed movie night. No matter where you take it, it will get devoured.
Main Ingredients
These simple ingredients create one of the best chocolate bark recipes with minimal effort. Scroll down to the printable recipe card for the full ingredient amounts and instructions.

- Dark Chocolate: Use high-quality chocolate for the best-tasting results. I recommend Ghirardelli chocolate wafers because they melt smoothly and taste great.
- Salted Pretzels: For this bark recipe, I used waffle pretzels. You can also use regular or mini pretzels or sticks.
- Caramel Baking Chips: These chips are similar to butterscotch chips but have a caramel flavor. I have found them at Trader Joe's and various grocery stores over the years. If you can't find them in stores, try Amazon. The Kraft caramel bits are NOT the same thing.
- Toppings: Sprinkles and coarse sea salt add a colorful and salty texture to the sweet bark.
BruCrew Tip: Use the remaining caramel chips to make a batch of these salted caramel chocolate chip cookies.
How To Make Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Bark
In just a few easy steps, you can have a pan of sweet-and-salty bark chilling in your fridge.

- Melt the chocolate wafers until smooth, then spread them into an even layer on a lined baking sheet. Press the pretzels gently into the melted chocolate.
- Place the salted caramel baking chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds. Stir and heat again until smooth, then spread the warm mixture evenly over the top of the pretzels with an offset spatula.
- Drizzle more melted chocolate over the top, then add sprinkles and a little sea salt, if desired.
- Place the pan in the refrigerator for five minutes to let the bark set, then cut the bark into pieces.
Storage Recommendations
Store the chocolate caramel pretzel bark in an airtight container to keep it fresh and crunchy. Avoid placing the container in warm areas, as the chocolate can soften and melt.
You can keep the bark at room temperature for 5 days if your kitchen stays cooler. For longer storage, refrigerate it for up to 2 weeks.

BruCrew Tips
- Line the pan with foil or parchment paper. This keeps the bark from sticking and makes it easy to lift out of the pan after it sets.
- Work while the chocolate is warm. Press the pretzels into the chocolate right after spreading it so they stick well.
- Melt the caramel chips gently. Too much heat can cause the salted caramel chips to scorch or seize. Add coconut oil to the bowl of chips, then heat them at 50% power in short bursts, stirring often.
- Add toppings right away. Sprinkles or flaky sea salt should be added before the caramel chips harden so they stick.
- Chill just until set. Refrigerate the bark just until firm to avoid condensation from forming on the chocolate.
- Cut instead of breaking. Once the bark sets, cut it with a long sharp knife for the best look.
