Caramel Apple Scones

Do you want to know something funny?I used to think scones were hard to make…
in fact, I would look at the recipes and think
oh, I could never make those.

Well, I got adventurous one day and even
embellished this scone recipe that I found.

Want to know something else???

Scones are really easy to make.
Honest!
I loved how moist and delicious these were…
almost like having cake for breakfast:-)
Definitely my kind of food.

This recipe is a slight combination of two I found in
Betty Crocker’s Fall Baking magazine.

Caramel Apple Scones

1 3/4 c. flour
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. cold butter
1 egg
1/2 c. half and half

BruCrew additions
1 c. chopped apples
1 c. caramel bits
caramel apple kisses

Heat oven to 400*. In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Stir in egg and half-and-half until a soft dough forms. Stir in apples and caramel bits. Place dough on floured surface. Knead lightly. On a cookie sheet, pat the dough into a 7 inch round circle. Sprinkle with a little bit of sugar. Cut into 8 wedges; separate slightly as they will rise when baking. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm…or you can let them cool and drizzle them with some melted caramel apple kisses because chocolate makes everything better.

I bought these caramel apple kisses last month…
so I am very sorry if you can’t find them now:-(

Oh my word, these scones look fantastic. Those kisses are long gone from my stores now, so all I can do is imagine just how delicious your scones must be with them drizzled on top. This is most definitely the breakfast of champions.
