Living in Florida, we keep our freezer stocked with frozen treats. After a hot day at the beach, it's nice to come home to something cold to cool you down.
I am always looking for fun ways to incorporate cheesecake into everything we make. These strawberry cheesecake cupcakes are always a favorite treat, so I knew that flavor would be perfect for a milkshake.
Most strawberry milkshake recipes just blend everything together. But mine has a few fun steps that make it stand out. The cups get a Cool Whip and a graham cracker crumb rim before the milkshake is added. Then, strawberry puree and more crumbs are layered inside, creating stripes.
Why You'll Love This Strawberry Cheesecake Drink
- Looks like it's from a fancy soda shop. The layers of strawberry puree, graham cracker crumbs, and milkshake, topped with Cool Whip, make a cute summer dessert.
- Tastes like cheesecake in a glass. Blending cream cheese into the ice cream gives it a sweet cheesecake flavor.
- Ready in less than 10 minutes! Just blend, layer, and add the toppings. Then add a straw and enjoy!
- Cheaper than a restaurant. You can make multiple drinks for your family at home for a fraction of the cost.

- Juicy Strawberries: Divided between the puree and the milkshake for fresh berry flavor in every layer. Make sure you save a few whole berries for the side of the glass. Frozen strawberries work, but fresh ones give you the best color and flavor.
- Granulated Sugar: Add just a little bit to the pureed berries to sweeten the mixture. Adjust based on how sweet the berries are.
- Cream Cheese: Use a block of full-fat cheese to get the best cheesecake flavor. Make sure it is fully softened before blending for a smooth shake.
- Vanilla Extract: Adds a warm, sweet flavor.
- Strawberry Milk: Blends everything into a creamy, pourable shake. I love using strawberry milk for more flavor, but whole milk works fine too.
- Strawberry Ice Cream: Use your favorite store-bought brand or our homemade strawberry ice cream.
- Cool Whip: Use this to add a graham cracker crumb rim to the glasses and to add a pretty topping. A piping bag fitted with an IM tip makes the prettiest swirls.
- Graham Crackers: Crush whole crackers in a plastic bag or a food processor. You will use some of the crumbs around the rim and some inside the glass.
Milkshake Variations
- Try different berries. Use blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries for a different colored and flavored shake.
- Boost the strawberry flavor. Blend a spoonful of strawberry jam with the fresh berries for an extra boost of strawberry goodness.
- Try Golden Oreos. Crush Oreo cookies and use those crumbs instead of the graham crackers.
- Make it a chocolate-covered strawberry shake. Drizzle chocolate sauce between the milkshake layers for a fun twist.
How To Make A Strawberry Milkshake
These milkshakes look so fancy, but they are actually so easy to make.

- Make the strawberry puree. Blend the sliced strawberries and sugar until smooth. Spoon 1 tablespoon into a small bowl, then set the rest aside.
- Rim the glasses. Spread a thin layer of Cool Whip around the outside of the glasses. Dip and roll each rim in a shallow plate of crumbs, pressing gently so they stick. Set the glasses upside down on a plate.
- Blend the milkshake. Add the strawberries, cream cheese, vanilla, and milk to the blender and pulse until smooth. Add the ice cream and blend again.
- Create the layers. Turn the glasses upright. Add a layer of milkshake, and drizzle puree around the edge. Sprinkle with crumbs. Repeat until full, ending with milkshake on top.
- Add toppings. Pipe a swirl of Cool Whip onto each glass. Drizzle with the reserved puree, then add cracker pieces. Add a fresh strawberry to the side, a striped straw, and enjoy immediately.

BruCrew Tips
- Soften the cream cheese completely. Set it out at least 30 minutes before blending so your shake is lump-free.
- Prep everything before blending. Make the puree, rim the glasses, and set out the toppings before you start blending the ingredients.
- Use a tall, clear glass. The taller the glass, the more layers you can create and the more impressive the result.
- Work quickly when layering. The milkshake starts to melt the moment it hits the glass, so move fast and have fun with it!
- Do not skip the striped straw. It is the finishing touch that makes these look absolutely Instagram-worthy every time.
FAQs
The cream cheese blended into the shake adds a subtle flavor that makes it taste more delicious than a regular strawberry shake.
If the mixture is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time. If it's too thin, add another scoop of ice cream and blend again. The right consistency should be thick enough to hold layers but thin enough to sip through a straw.
Use a clear glass, work in thin layers, and drizzle the strawberry sauce slowly around the inside edge of the glass. Do not stir, and the layers will stay beautiful.
