Key Ingredients Needed
What I love most about this fudge is that it is so easy to make. All you need are a few simple ingredients to make a simple and creamy treat.
- Nilla Crust - A combo of Nilla wafer crumbs, sugar, and melted butter pressed into the bottom of the pan makes a great crust for this fudge.
- White Chocolate Chips - You will need a 12 ounce bag of chips to make the banana and vanilla fudge layers.
- Butter - Adding a little bit helps to melt the white chips and also gives it a smooth texture.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk - Sweetens and helps the chocolate melt down smoothly.
- Instant Banana Cream Pudding Mix - Gives the fudge a delicious banana flavor. Make sure you buy the instant pudding mix, so it dissolves easily.
- Marshmallow Cream - Also known as fluff, this will give the fudge a fluffy and light texture.
How to Make Banana Fudge
Don't let the layers in this fudge scare you. This banana pudding fudge is actually quite easy to make. Just follow the step-by-step instructions, and in no time, your pan of fudge will be cooling on the counter.
Prepare a Nilla Crust
- Crush the Nilla wafer cookies into crumbs using a food processor.
- Stir the sugar and melted butter into the crumbs.
- Press the mixture evenly in a foil-lined 8x8 baking pan.
- Bake for 8 minutes, then cool.
Make Banana Fudge
- Add the white chocolate chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk in a pan over low-medium heat. Stir until melted and creamy.
- Sprinkle in the dry pudding mix and stir for 1-2 minutes while the fudge is still on low heat.
- Pour onto the crust.
Make Vanilla Fudge
- Melt a small amount of white chocolate chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk in a small pan over low heat. Stir until melted.
- Pour on top of the banana fudge layer and spread out gently.
- Sprinkle the top with Nilla wafer cookie chunks.
- Place on the counter for 4-6 hours or until completely set.
Set and Serve
- Once the banana cream fudge is completely cool and set, lift the foil out of the pan and gently peel it away from the fudge.
- Cut the fudge into 36 small squares, then set on a tray and serve.
Storage Recommendations
On the Counter: Keep the banana fudge at room temperature in an air-tight container for 3-4 days.
In the Refrigerator: Place the fudge in an air-tight container in the fridge for 6-7 days.
In the Freezer: Wrap the entire block of fudge in plastic wrap and foil; then place in a freezer-safe bag or container for 1-2 months. Remove and thaw overnight in the fridge. Cut the fudge into squares right before you serve it. Freezing it whole vs squares keeps the fudge from drying out.
Tips and Tricks
- Line your pan with foil or parchment paper, so you can lift the whole block out easily for cutting.
- Use a food processor to crush the cookies into fine crumbs. You can also use a plastic bag, a rolling pin, and some muscles to crush them.
- Heat the ingredients over low heat to avoid scorching and ruining your chocolate.
- Once you add the pudding mix, make sure you continue to stir it over heat for a few minutes. This helps to dissolve the fudge a little better. It may still have just a little bit of grittiness to it.
- Let the fudge chill and set completely before cutting it into squares. Want it to set faster? Refrigerate it for a few hours.

I have made this fudge twice now and it has turned out grainy each time. What am I doing wrong?
Jocelyn
You are not doing anything wrong. The pudding mix will never fully dissolve because it isn't being mixed with milk. I usually add it and continue to stir for at least 2 minutes with the pan over low heat. This helps to dissolve it a little more, but it will still have a slight gritty/grainy texture.

Hello! I was just wondering you if you've ever used this recipe with actual bananas?? I have a ton in my freezer and like the actual banana flavor but wasn't sure how it would work! Thank you for any advice 😊😊
Jocelyn
I haven't actually tested this particular recipe with real bananas. It is actually on my list to test sometime though. My husband and I tried a banana fudge at Buccee's, and I'm pretty sure it had real bananas because it tasted so good.

Hi, I love fudge and unusual fudge flavors. I use the frosting recipes quite often. Do you think vanilla icing and white chips could be microwaved and used instead of the butter/sweetened condensed milk if it's what I had on hand? And do you ever find that your frosting fudge is too soft? I live in the very humid south and I wonder if the weather affects the fudge?
Jocelyn
Yes vanilla chips and vanilla frosting would be perfect. Here is my basic frosting recipe. https://insidebrucrewlife.com/frosting-fudge/ I do like to add a little butter to help melt the chips and to make the fudge creamier, but you could leave it out. And yes, I have noticed certain ones being softer. Humidity is definitely one reason, another one that I have noticed is different brands of chocolate chips can affect how the fudge sets up.
Kathy
Hi, what's the shelf life on this fudge and how do I store it ?
Jocelyn
The banana fudge will keep at room temperature in an airtight container for 3-4 days. It can also be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for 6-7 days. If you want to freeze it, wrap the entire block of fudge in plastic wrap and foil; place in a freezer safe bag or container for 1-2 months. Remove and thaw overnight in the fridge. Cut the fudge into squares right before you serve it. Freezing it whole vs squares keeps the fudge from drying out. I hope that helps!
Val
Can you make this without the marshmallow cream?
Jocelyn
You could leave it out but the fudge will be harder and not as creamy.
Kaylene
Might sound like a weird question but what is marshmallow cream? I live in New Zealand
Jocelyn
Not a weird question at all. Marshmallow cream is a confectionery spread similar in flavor, but not texture, to regular marshmallows. It is gooey and spreadable and so delicious. You can buy it on amazon or I have seen some recipes to make it homemade.
Tania
Hello, this recipe looks lovely and I'm going to try and make it shortly. I do have a question about the pudding mix, though. I live in Canada and everything here is done in grams (grrr:) and the pudding mix is sold in 32g boxes. I would need 3 boxes for this recipe. It looks like a lot of pudding mix. My question is: does your 3.4oz box of pudding mix look like it's about 3/4 of a cup in volume? Thank you:)
Jocelyn
I just measured a box of pudding mix, and it is 1/2 cup of powder. I hope that helps.
Tania
Wow - I was hoping I would get a response before I made the recipe - thank you so much!
Jocelyn
You are very welcome 🙂
Tammy
These look like so much fun and they sounds delish! 😀
Christine
I can only find the banana pudding that you cook, not instant. Will this still work.
Jocelyn
No, it needs to be the instant pudding because it dissolves in the fudge mixture. You can use vanilla pudding in place of it if you need to.
MyLinda
I made this the other day and while it tasted great, it was so sticky even after hours in the refrigerator that I couldn't cut it. I'm not sure what I did wrong but I'm going to try it again today!
Jocelyn Brubaker
Oh, no! Definitely check your measurements for every ingredient when you make it again today. I have made it many times and never had any problems with it setting! Keep me posted on how it goes!
Suzy

Kelli's Kitchen
Hi Jocelyn, I"m Kelli from Kelli's Kitchen and I am one of the administrators for the Just Dessert Recipes FB group. I love your banana fudge so much - I posted the picture and a link directly back to your blog just a few minutes ago. I always post correctly and with integrity. I almost always ask permission to do that first, however, today has gotten away from me and since Tuesday is "MY" day with Stacy from Food Lust People Love, I just did it..........there are about 28,000 followers in that group - so you should be able to tell some FB traffic to this post. I apologize for not getting permission first! Kelli
Jocelyn Brubaker
Thank you so much for sharing the fudge. And don't worry about asking first...as long as my pics are shared with a link back to the post for the recipe, I am totally cool with it anytime 🙂
Patricia
I just found this recipe for Banana Cream Fudge & I want to try it....I have a question....the recipe calls for 1 box of instant banana cream pudding mix. So I went to the store and bought instant pudding & Pie filling...(the kind you mix w/cold milk) Is this the correct kind of pudding mix? Please reply ASAP. I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks. Patricia
Jocelyn Brubaker
Hi, Patricia! Yes, that sounds like you bought the same pudding that I used. I hope you enjoy the fudge!
Sandi
This looks like an amazing recipe. I can't wait to try a gluten free version with gluten free cookie crumbs.
Amanda Smith
What is the measurement of the chocolate chips? Looks good but pkg sizes and quantities of ingredients are not listed...
Jocelyn Brubaker
Hi, Amanda. If you scroll down past all the pictures, there is a printable recipe card with all the ingredients listed with measurements.

Hi, this fudge looks great! I have one question, there's a difference between marshmallow fluff and marshmallow cream. Which do you use in your fudge recipes? There are quite a few of your recipes I'd like to try. Everything looks delicious!
Thanks so much 🙂
Jocelyn Brubaker
I think marshmallow cream and fluff are the same thing. It just depends on what brand you buy. I have actually used both before and didn't notice any difference.
Monique
Hey, thank you for the great recipe, I hope you can help me, I live in South Africa and we don't have jars of marshmallow cream here (as far as I know), is there something I can substitute it with? Thanks again! Lots of love...
Jocelyn Brubaker
Hi, Monique. No marshmallow cream in S. Africa? That is sad...but I found this recipe for a homemade version that is supposed to be just like the store bought stuff. I hope that helps 🙂 http://www.cinnamonspiceandeverythingnice.com/homemade-marshmallow-fluff-chocolate-too/
