How did anyone get this to turn out ? I followed the recipe exactly, let it sit on my counter for two hours, and then in the fridge overnight for 12 hours.
When I took it out of the oven and let it cool a bit, it's a liquidy sloppy mess. There is no possible way that the apple pie in the picture used the recipe for filling.
I don't know if there's a typo in the amount of water or cornstarch to use, but this recipe is not correct and very frustrated with wasted ingredients and time.

Can I make this ahead of time in the morning and leave out? Any advice for reheating? I don’t have a double oven and my turkey will be cooking for 5 hours before our dinner.

Yes, you can definitely make this ahead of time. If you are doing it that morning, it would be fine to stay out on the counter until you want to serve it. I honestly wouldn't reheat it, but you totally can. Cover it with foil and place in a 350 degree F oven for about 10-15 minutes or until warm. I only have old fashioned oats and not quick oats. Do you think this will be ok or will it be too “chewy”? Made this pie last year and it’s now a staple!

You could totally use the old fashioned oats in place of the quick oats and it would be fine. You can also put the old fashioned oats in a blender or food processor and give them a quick whirl to make them more like quick oats. I usually use bags of peeled Crunch Pak apples when I make the filling. They are Gala apples, if you are buying regular apples.
