Strawberries are such a versatile spring or summer fruit. They are perfect for a quick strawberry cobbler, strawberry pie filling, or strawberry pie.
One of our favorite summer desserts are these little no bake strawberry pretzel salad cups. They have the perfect blend of sweet and salty.
So when I found this strawberry pie recipe in an old church cookbook, I knew I had to give it a pretzel pie crust.
After a few tweaks, I came up with a delicious no bake strawberry pie that we fell in love with. The pretzel crust seriously makes it amazing.
Why Make This Pie
The best part about this strawberry pretzel pie is that there is no baking required. Just mix together the ingredients, place it in the fridge, and you are done.
The pretzel crust gives this strawberry pie a unique sweet and salty flavor that everyone will love.
It's the perfect dessert for picnics, potlucks, or dinner parties.
Ingredients Needed
This no bake strawberry pie is made with a pretzel crust, creamy filling, and fresh strawberries. It comes together in no time with simple ingredients.
- Pretzel Pie Crust - Mini pretzels, sugar, and butter creates the most amazing no bake pie crust.
- Strawberry Jello - Adds a great strawberry flavor.
- Plain Knox Gelatine - The extra packet of gelatine helps to thicken the filling.
- Vanilla Ice Cream - Chills the warm Jello mixture and gives the pie a creamy, sweet texture.
- Strawberries - Fresh diced strawberries inside and whole berries on top make this pie berry good.
- Cool Whip - One container of thawed whipped cream will cover the top of the pie. Feel free to make this homemade whipped topping, if you prefer that instead.
How to Make a Strawberry Pretzel Pie
Not only is this strawberry pretzel dessert easy to make, it is also incredibly delicious.
- Crush the mini pretzels into small pieces. I put the pretzels in a ziplock bag and smashed them with the back of a wooden spoon or a rolling pin. You can also pulse them in a food processor.
- Stir the granulated sugar and melted butter into the crushed pretzels. Then press the mixture into a 9 ½ inch deep dish pie plate. Refrigerate the crust while you make the filling.
- Add the strawberry Jello, plain gelatine, and boiling water to a large bowl. Stir until the powders dissolve. Stir the vanilla ice cream in immediately. As the ice cream melts, it will cause the strawberry gelatin mixture to thicken quickly. So you need to stir fast!
- Stir in the diced strawberries and spoon the filling into the prepared crust immediately.
- Swirl the thawed whipped topping all over the top of the pie using a piping bag fitted with icing tip 1M.
- Place the pie in the refrigerate for 3-4 hours to set up before cutting it into slices.
Storage
Store the strawberry pie in an air tight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. The crust does start to soften the longer it sits.
Tips and Tricks
- Spray the pie plate with a little bit of nonstick baking spray. This will help your pie slices to come out a little cleaner.
- Make sure you buy salted pretzels for the best flavor in the pie crust. The mini pretzels are the easiest to crush.
- The salty pretzel crust for this pie is no bake, so it will crumble apart a little bit as you slice the pie.
- If you want a firmer crust, bake it at 350° for 7-8 minutes, then cool before adding the strawberry filling.
- Allow time for this pie to chill. It needs to set up before it is firm enough to cut into slices.
FAQs
This strawberry pie with pretzel crust is best served the day you make it. Make it early in the day and then refrigerate it until you want to serve it later that day.
You can, but I do not recommend freezing this pie unless you will be serving it frozen. Freezing and thawing a pie with Jello will end up in a soupy mess.
Yes, you can change up the flavor the the pie by using a different flavor of Jello and different fruits. A few flavors that would be good are cherry, orange, and peach.

- 1 pretzel pie crust
- 3 ounce box strawberry Jello
- 1 packet plain Knox gelatine
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup diced strawberries
- 8 ounce container Cool Whip, thawed
Instructions
- Make and refrigerate the pretzel crust in a 9 inch pie plate at least 30 minutes before making the filling.
- Stir the boiling water and both gelatins together until completely dissolved.
- Add the ice cream and stir until it is all melted. The mixture will start to thicken as you stir.

Notes
The crust on this pie is crumbly and will fall apart easily. If you want to bake the pie crust at 350° for 7-8 minutes, it will be harder. But that will take away from the NO BAKE part of the pie.

That just looks delicious! So sorry about your Chilis out though. Disappointing when that happens. I am completely loving this pretzel crust!

I've been disappointed countless times when we've been out to eat, and it's shocking sometimes what the kitchen sends out, and the server doesn't even catch it. I can't believe they didn't put cheese on your queso! This pie looks delicious, and I love the sound of that pretzel crust. Sweet and salty desserts are where it's at for me! 🙂
Wendy
Your Chilli's Queso story reminds me of a time my son ordered a cheese burger at McDonald's and the cashier asked, "Do you want cheese with that?" Hello, restaurant world?! If the word cheese (in English or Spanish) is in the title, it does lead customers to believe there will be cheese in the food!! Its especially disappointing when a restaurant you usually enjoy, like Chilli'es for you, lets you down! (McDonalds I can do without 🙂 ) This strawberry pie looks so refreshing and no bake is always a winner as the warm weather approaches! I bet this would be delicious in parfait form too!
Jocelyn Brubaker
Haha, that is a pretty funny story about McD's! 🙂 Thanks Wendy!

do you think u could double the recipe and make it in a 9x13 pan
Jocelyn
I haven't tried it that way, but I think it would be fine. Keep me posted on how it turns out.

Chili's is my favorite restaurant, too...my family even teases me about it because I'm so simple. Ha!! We order queso all the time and...it's basically chili. Lighter in color, but chili. Not my favorite. The boys love it, but I need more cheese/less meat. This pie looks fab!!
Erin @ The Spiffy Cookie
I love strawberry pretzel salad/dessert whatever it's called. and also loving it in pie form!
Jocelyn Brubaker
Thanks Erin!

Oh no! There is nothing more disappointing than having to throw away food ... especially desserts. I've tried storing pies in the fridge; it never turns out well! After a while, they invariably get soggy. I love strawberry pie! This sweet and salty twist sounds amazing!
Jocelyn Brubaker
Thanks Mary Frances! 😉

One of my favorite salads ever is a strawberry pretzel salad. This is just 100x better since it's in pie form and way more sugar 🙂 Love it! Pinning 🙂
Amy @ Amy's Healthy Baking
Oh my goodness Jocelyn, that's an awfully disappointing dining experience! I know it was a half-price app, but when you're looking forward to something, it doesn't matter how small or discounted the price tag is. Your happiness and enjoyment is worth a lot more! Strange how other customers have been complaining for months; I wonder if it's worth mentioning just for the future, not necessarily to get a refund or anything. And I took French, not Spanish, but doesn't queso mean cheese??
Anyway, I'm so impressed by your resolve to make this pie! It looks incredible, especially that salty pretzel crust (you can't beat sweet and salty!) and that gorgeous pink color. And with our 90°+ weather out here, it's already time for no-bake desserts! Already pinned! 🙂
Jocelyn Brubaker
Haha, yes, it means melted cheese! Thanks Amy!
Lavender
I love strawberries and the color of the pie is gorgeous!
I've had a lot of not so great meals in my life, but like you I can laugh about most of them. The best mistake was a good one though as we'd been given the wrong desert. They told us we could eat that one and afterwards they served us the desert we ordered. Both of them were really delicious too.
Jess @ On Sugar Mountain
What a rude waitress! I mean I get not wanting to mess up, but why not just admit it when the thing you served has the word queso in it and NO QUESO ON IT?! Ugh. I am in love with this strawberry pretzel pie, though! What a fantastic flavor combo and so bright and cheery for Spring!
Jocelyn Brubaker
Haha, thanks Jess! 😉
Aimee @ ShugarySweets
Yum, this recipe reminds my of my aunt's pretzel jello! Looks delicious, and reminds me I have to make her recipe soon.

Chelsea @ Gal on a Mission
I have never had a problem at Chili's before - that's really surprising. I cannot believe the server thought the queso was just chili - LOL. People....
Anyways, that pie looks delicious.
Chloe @ foodlikecake
That pie looks awesome 🙂 I love the strawberry + pretzel combination!
