Blackberries and brie cheese make a delicious and easy appetizer

Did you hear that?  That was 2013 passing you by.  Is anyone else in awe that this year is coming to an end in only a few more days?  It has been a great year for our family.

Deciding to go full time ministry and full time blogging has exceeded our expectations more than we could have even dreamed.  So much has happened since I shared our new dreams and goals in THIS POST!    We followed God’s leading, and He was wonderful to provide us with everything we needed, and even the things we just wanted.  It was an adjustment for sure, but looking back I am so glad we listened.

Thank you so much for all my amazing readers who have helped me in my journey to do this blogging thing full time.  Your comments and emails definitely keep me going strong.  That and the stack of recipe notes I have piled up on my desk.  I hope you are ready for some delicious treats and sweets and maybe even some dinners in the new year.  I know I’m ready for it!

This is also the year I will remember falling in love with Brie cheese.  Now normally I am not a huge cheese eater.  Oh, I like it, and I eat it many different ways, but I usually don’t stray from the basic Cheddar, Mozzarella, or Colby Jack.  But then I kept seeing this Brie stuff pop up in my readers and instagram.  Thank you Ashton for making me want to try this amazing cheese.

I had my first slices of it with crackers.  It’s good…very good.  But then I bought a small round of it and it sat in my fridge.  I just knew that I wanted to experience some sort of melted goodness with it, but I wasn’t sure what.  So it sat there for a few weeks.  Crazy, I know!  Perfectly delicious cheese just sitting there!

Then just the other day I opened my fridge and started rearranging and tossing.  You know the drill, right.  Buy healthy delicious veggies in hopes that you will eat them, only to put them in the drawers to be promptly forgotten about.  Let’s just say that bags of asparagus cannot be forgotten about.   Or boxes of lettuce.  Eeeiikk!   Thankfully carrots and peppers last a little bit longer.  I have high hopes for my new years goals.  Plain and simple…eat more veggies.  Maybe I should start putting them in plain sight.  Maybe I should start using the drawers for all the cream cheese, butter, and crescent rolls that have taken over my fridge.  Sounds like a good plan to me.

Anyway, as I was cleaning, I came across a jar of blackberry spreadable fruit that hadn’t been used yet.  Then the crescent rolls and Brie cheese round started yelling at me.  You have experienced food talking to you, right?  Ok, then moving on.  Let’s just say a run to the grocery store for fresh blackberries was in my very near future.  I couldn’t get the idea of these little cups out of my head.  Never mind the calls that kept coming out of the fridge every time I got near.  I just had to make them pronto!

The crescent cups with melted  Brie cheese and the sweet fruit spread paired with a fresh chilled blackberry is absolutely amazing.  I now understand all the posts and instagram pictures that I saw.  It’s official…I love Brie!!!

These look so tasty and so cute! What really got to me was the blackberries.
Anything with any kind of berry is tops for me!
I am new to brie cheese, but I’m never one to shy away from new-to-me foods.
I will definitely try these out. :-)

This is converting me to brie … these little bites pack quite the punch! Cheesy, fruity goodness right here. My food doesn’t just talk to me, it makes me feel bad for leaving it in the fridge … maybe that’s why I’ve never tried Brie … I knew it would be gone quickly! These bites give me an excuse (and reason!) to share! They are so cute and the flavors sound amazing!

Hahahaha! I love this! And yes, these bites would be yelling from the fridge asking why you were leaving them there all alone! And when you did eat them…all of a sudden they would all be gone.

Brie is my all-time favorite cheese! I buy mine at Trader Joe’s because it is really affordable and paired with their crackers, it is my favorite snack! These little cups are so so cute! I love hearing what God is doing in your lives. What an amazing testament!

Made these last night for New Years Eve – they are beyond spectacular!!!! We didn’t have any Blackberry jelly so I used Blueberry Jam with the Blackberries – very, very flavorful and a huge hit!

These look amazing! I’ve done similar bites using raspberry preserves mixed with fresh rosemary and black pepper, garnished with a fresh raspberry—would be pretty to serve both types on same platter!!!
