My son pulled the whole "I need cookies for our class party tomorrow" trick on me. He does live with me, and knows that I bake ALL the time. I'm sure he thought that a short notice was all I really needed.

Right now we are living in a winter wonderland. The last few days it has snowed quite a bit. The ground is covered in fluffy white, and the trees are glistening with the snow. It looks beautiful...but can I be honest with you? I am a snow hater. (Ducks as invisible snowballs are hurled)
Oh, I kind of like it at this time of year. Who doesn't want to wake up on Christmas morning to a white winter wonderland. But then it can melt 😉 But alas, I am in for a long few months of cold and ice and cold and snowy days...and did I mention cold?
The older I get the less I can handle being cold. Although at least being cold, you can put layers and layers of clothes on and sit in front of a space heater. I've got one blasting at my feet right now. When you are hot, there is only so much you can take off. So, I guess that is one bright spot to being cold. Bring on the layers.

Reindeer inspired treats have been following me everywhere I go...on pinterest, magazines, and TV. I took it as a sign that I needed to jump on board and create my own fun version. Now really there isn't anything different about mine than anything I have seen. Googly eyes...check. Red nose...check. Pretzel antlers...check. Yup, it's kind of the same thing everywhere you look.
My little twist was to use pre-packaged snack cakes for the head. I wanted something that was already dipped in chocolate, so I didn't have to do it. This is an easy treat people. So easy the kids could probably do it with their eyes closed.

One of my favorite things about the holiday season are all the holiday shows on TV. I remember as a kid watching all the Christmas cartoons every single year. We would sit and watch Frosty, Rudolph, and The Grinch every single year, even when I was a teenager.
When our kids were younger, we would do the same thing with them. As they have gotten older, they kind of look at us funny when we turn these cartoons on. Where has the magic of childhood gone?

This time of year I just can't resist the urge to buy all the fun seasonal candies and cookies that the stores have out on display. They really know how to market those items to shoppers. Put it out in front of the store or in the checkout aisles where I am sure to see it, and you can bet it will end up in my cart.
Now to resist eating it when it sits on my kitchen counter for weeks at a time. I have had these gingerbread cookies and M&M's in my kitchen for a few weeks now, just waiting for the right inspiration to use them in.
I kept looking at them and trying to decide what they would work in best, but then I would just go back to my peppermint obsession and make things like these Oreo Peppermint Crunch Cookies.

So far we have gone through two containers of eggnog...in one week. And Christmas is still 20 days away! Oh, and only two of us actually like eggnog in our house.
My oldest finished off the first container so quickly that I had to buy another one and put a note on it that said "Do Not Touch". This is a very necessary note because that kid would seriously drink all of it in one day if I let him. I had these cinnamon rolls in mind, so I had to make sure the eggnog was there when I went to bake.
