How To Make Cherry Cream Cheese Pie
This cherry cream pie is incredibly easy to put together. Follow our simple steps, and you will have a pie chilling in your fridge in no time.
- Prepare the crust. Unroll the pie crust according to the package directions, then place it in a 9-inch pie pan. Refrigerate until needed.
- Bake the cheesecake. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth and creamy using an electric or hand mixer. Add the egg and extracts and lightly beat again on low speed. Spread it in prepared the pie crust and bake until set.
- Make the no-bake topping. Beat cream cheese, sugar, and extracts until light and fluffy. Fold in whipped cream, then spread the creamy filling on the chilled pie.
- Add toppings. Swirl whipped cream around the outside edge of the pie, then spoon the cherries on top of the pie. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Storage Recommendations
In the Refrigerator: Cover the cheesecake pie tightly and keep it in the fridge for 3-4 days.
In the Freezer: Place the entire pie or slices on a tray and freeze for 30 minutes. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil, and store in a freezer-safe container or bag for 1-2 months.
To Serve: Defrost the dessert in the fridge overnight. Add the whipped cream swirls and fruit topping right before serving.
Tips and Tricks
- Try a different crust. Make a buttery graham cracker crust or Oreo crust in a 9-inch pie plate, then bake the creamy cheesecake.
- Let it cool. Allow the baked cheesecake layer to cool completely before adding the no-bake topping. This will prevent the fluffy layer from melting.
- Whip it real good. Beat the cream cheese and other topping ingredients until light and fluffy. This step is the secret to that soft, airy texture that contrasts beautifully with the denser baked layer.
- Serve it with other pie fillings. Try blueberry pie filling, strawberry pie filling, or even blackberry pie filling for a delicious twist.
FAQs
Softened cream cheese will help prevent lumps and have a much smoother cheesecake filling. Bring it to room temperature before mixing.
Absolutely! It's encouraged. The pie tastes even better when chilled overnight, making it perfect for a special occasion or entertainment.
While fresh cherries are delicious, pie filling is more convenient. If using fresh cherries, sweeten them and cook them down slightly.
While full-fat cream cheese provides a rich, decadent flavor, feel free to use a lighter version for a delicious, guilt-free pie.
Run a sharp knife under hot water to make the cutting process smoother. Wipe it dry before each cut. The warmth of the knife will help it glide through the layers without creating a messy trail.
