Snickers salad meets apple cake in this delicious homemade dessert. This Apple Snickers Cake is loaded with apple chunks and candy bars and tastes amazing! This will be your new favorite cake recipe after you take one bite.
How many of you have had Snickers Salad before? It is definitely a favorite with our kids.
Of course, it always made me laugh every time I hear people talking about this salad, because Snickers and salad just don’t sound right together. But then I had some of the deliciousness, and I became a firm believer in fluff salads.
A fluffy pudding mixed with apple chunks and Snickers bars is a dessert salad I can get behind every night. That’s one way of having your apple a day, right?
The other day I bought more apples for school lunches and after school snacks. As much as the kids would like to have Chocolate Chip Cookies and Cream Cookies every day, we have been trying to enforce more healthy options.
I also picked up an extra bag of apples because I also wanted to make more Cinnamon Sugar Apple Donut Holes and Apple Nachos.
But then I wandered into the candy aisle, and I had this crazy desire to add Snickers candy bars to the treats.
Of course, a bag of those Snickers minis went into my cart in quite a hurry. What was that I said about eating more healthy fruit snacks? That starts tomorrow. Wink, wink!
My husband just shakes his head in disbelief every time I come home with more candy. The answer is yes. Yes, I realize I have issues if you were wondering.
This time I was telling him about my crazy need to change up this Toffee Apple Bread with Snickers when he stopped me with a great idea.
His suggestion was to make an easy apple cake recipe topped with Snickers salad for frosting!!! The more I thought about it, the better it sounded!
Let me tell you people, he is a genius because this Apple Snickers Cake is simply to die for!! It is seriously the best apple cake I have ever had. We won’t talk about how many pieces I may or may not have eaten.
How to make an Apple Snickers Cake:
- Combine the apple sauce, sour cream, and sugars until creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix again.
- Dice your fresh apples into small chunks and stir them into the batter.
- Whisk together all the dry ingredients and slowly mix it into the apple cake batter.
- Cut your candy bars into chunks and stir gently into the batter as well.
- Pour into a prepared 9×13 cake pan and bake. Let cool completely after baking.
- Whisk together pudding mix and milk. Fold in Cool Whip and spread on top of the cake.
- Sprinkle with more chopped candy bars to top it off.

What kind of apples are best for baking?
I usually use Gala apples for baked goods, but feel free to use your favorite apple. Other apples that are great for baking are Winesap, Jonagold, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn
Do I have to peel the apples?
Depending on your preference, you can peel the apples or not. I have made this cake both ways and it’s delicious either way.
What can I use in place of Cool Whip?
A stabilized whipped cream will also work. Make 1 1/2 batches of this Homemade Whipped Cream to use in place of the Cool Whip.
More easy apple recipes:
- Apple Crisp Pie – the crunchy streusel topping and homemade filling makes this the best apple pie recipe around
- Maple Bacon Apple Cinnamon Roll Bake – crunchy bacon and a sweet maple glaze adds so much flavor to this easy breakfast casserole
- Apple Turtle Cheesecake Tart – a creamy cheesecake topped with apples, caramel, and nuts is a very good idea
- Apple Cheesecake Bars – sweet cheesecake with apple chunks and caramel drizzles tastes amazing
- Taffy Apple Pizza – a sweet cookie dough crust, apples, peanut butter frosting, and caramel drizzles sounds great

Ooh these look so good! I love the sound of the flavour combinations!
Thank you!!!

[…] Apple Snickers Cake […]
Ok let’s just say I don’t wanna be healthy. I want the butter or oil, not the applesauce and yogurt. How much? 2/3 cup softened butter?
Haha! So your comment made me laugh today 🙂 Yes, if you want to go full fat, I would use 2/3 cup butter. But I have to tell you that you would never know this was a “healthy” cake because it is rich and full of moisture!
Thank you Jocelyn! I’m sure it’s great either way! I have apples, and Snickers I can pick up at cvs tomorrow before work, but I’m trying to avoid a grocery run, that’s all! If I can use butter, I’m good to go!
Does this cake need to be refrigerated if you are serving it the next day?
Yes, this cake needs to be refrigerated because of the pudding and Cool Whip on top. Hope you enjoy it!

This sounds oh, SOOO yummm! Quandary: do I file it under “cake” or “sweet bar”? I know it says cake, bit it’s so dense (looking), it looks like it could be called a bar. Either way, can’t wait to try it!
