Why This Recipe Works
Craving a hot cup of specialty coffee, but don't want to leave your house? We've got the perfect drink for you. Save money and time by making special coffee drinks in the comfort of your own home.
Fat free milk, chocolate syrup, and a little bit of mint extract give this homemade latte an amazing chocolate mint flavor that will leave you wanting more. Plus, our easy mint latte is served with a mint cookie rim to make it even more special.
You are going to love this drink! It's the perfect pick-me-up for those days when you need an extra boost of energy to get all the things done.
Ingredients Needed
With just a few ingredients you can make a cup of thin mint coffee! Don't forget the cookie crumbles on the rim and chocolate drizzles!
- Coffee - Make sure you brew the coffee extra strong or make a double shot of espresso.
- Milk - Any variety of milk will work. I just like to use fat free to save on a few calories, plus it froths really well.
- Chocolate Syrup - A few spoonfuls of zero sugar Hershey's chocolate syrup gives it a sweet chocolate flavor without added sugars.
- Mint Extract - Do not overdo this extract because it can go from slight mint flavor to toothpaste in a hurry. Be careful when measuring it out!
- Toppings - A swirl of cool whip, chocolate syrup, and cookie crumbles makes this coffee drink extra special.
How to make a Mint Latte
This mint latte recipe is a delicious and slightly healthier alternative than coffee shop drinks. Plus, it's so easy to make at home in just a few simple steps.
Brew a cup of strong coffee and pour it into a measuring cup.
Heat the milk, syrup, and extract on the stove on low to medium heat until it is hot. Do not let it boil!
Use an Aerolatte milk frother to froth the hot milk until you get a nice layer of foam on top. You can also pulse the milk in a blender to make it frothy.
Dip the top of the glass in honey, then dip the rim in crushed girl scout cookies.
You can also dip the rim in green sugar for a fun St. Patrick's day twist.
Recipe Tips
An angled measuring cups works best for pouring the coffee and frothed milk into the mug without spilling it on the decorated rim.
As you are pouring the frothed milk, use the back of a spoon to keep all the foam from going into the cup too fast. If your mug is large, then you can pour everything in right away.
A swirl of whipped topping and more chocolate gives it a bigger foam.

Yum! This latte looks tasty, Jocelyn! I'm starting to regret not buy thin mints this year!
Jocelyn
If you don't get them, just buy the Keebler Grasshoppers...those work just as well ๐

Minnesota has hardly had any snow this winter and I have a feeling that March is going to make up for it for some reason. I'll have to warm up to one of these delicious lattes!
Jocelyn
I hope your March isn't snowy...maybe spring will decide to come early for all of us!!! If not, make a latte a day...it's how I'm coping!
Karen Kirsch
So clever! Tis the season of girl scout cookies. ๐
Jenny Flake
Although I don't drink coffee, this is a great idea!!
Jocelyn
It would be great for hot chocolate too ๐
Aimee @ ShugarySweets
And I bet you walked around all day with cookie in your teeth!!! hahaha! Kidding. I'm sure you check before leaving the house, right? These are marvelous, and how fun with the cookie rim and cool whip? It's gonna happen soon here!!
Jocelyn
Hahahaha! You are a funny one! LOL! I'm now so paranoid about it that I check my teeth all the time before going in public! Definitely try this fun drink...the extra cookies and Cool Whip totally make it awesome!
Krista @ Joyful Healthy Eats
Ugh... so glad i moved away from snow I hated that time of year. Christmas time was good because there is a purpose for the snow and you want it around that time, but now its just old news. Bring out the sunshine...
But you are so right this latte would make anyone happy! YUM! Mint and chocolate in coffee is heavenly!
Jocelyn
I am so over the cold and winter...I'm thinking that a move to a warmer place would be awesome!!!
Joanie @ ZagLeft
I love the flavors of this latte, you just can't go wrong with Thin Mints. I've never seen that milk frother before, what a great little tool - I think I need to get one.
Jocelyn
Yes, get that little frother...it's so much fun to play with!!! And Thin Mint added to anything is just so good ๐
Amanda
Oh my word! YUM!!!
Mir
But I feel so grown up holding my $5 cup of coffee!
This seriously looks amazing. Better than anything any coffee shop could produce! And perfect for another icy day...sigh.
Jocelyn
I do love going to the coffee shops and buying those drinks. But making them at home and making them for so much cheaper is so much better!
Meg @ The Housewife in Training Files
I think that once March hits that spring is on its way! I remember in high school and college that March meant we were already wearing short sleeves, not parkas. But if snow comes, then I wouldn't mind curling up with this latte!
Jocelyn
I wish March meant spring, but here in the midwest it usually just means more winter!!! At least fun latte drinks help with the cold ๐
Erin @ Miss Scrambled Egg
I think this is going to be my new favorite latte, Jocelyn. We got about 7 inches of snow in Connecticut and they're saying that more is on its way for later in the week. Looks like I'll be curling up with one of these lattes very soon. I also work at Starbucks, so it will be fun experimenting with this recipe using an espresso bar. I'll let you know how it goes! ๐
Jocelyn
Curling up with a latte and warm blanket is definitely the way to deal with more snow!!! Keep me posted on how you like it!
Gayle @ Pumpkin 'N Spice
Wow this latte looks AMAZING, Jocelyn! Thin mints are one of my favorite cookies, so this is just calling my name! And what a beautiful presentation! Looks so much better than my cup of coffee right now. Pinned!
Jocelyn
Thank you so much!! This was a fun one to create and photograph...and drink ๐
