This easy no bake Cookies and Cream Pie is made with an Oreo crust, cookie filling, and chocolate pudding. Top it with whipped cream and more cookies for a show stopping dessert.
Our daughter loves cookies and cream, so we make quite a few desserts with Oreo cookies. Some of our favorites are these cookies and cream cookies, dirt pie, and this homemade cookies and cream ice cream.
Since we had another package of cookies and I was craving pie, I decided to make a chocolate Oreo pie for dessert.
Why This Works
This chocolate cookies and cream pie is so easy to make. It is completely no bake, so there is no need to turn on the oven when it is super hot outside.
Not only does the Oreo filling come together in minutes, it is also creamy and delicious. It goes so well with the chocolate cookie crust.
As the pie chills, the cookie chunks soften up and add the most delicious cookies and cream flavor. It's the perfect dessert for Oreo lovers.
This easy Oreo pudding pie is a crowd favorite. It's a great recipe to serve at summer picnics or potluck dinners.
Ingredients
This Oreo pie is seriously so easy to make. You will only need a few simple ingredients to make this easy no bake pie.
- Oreo Crust - You can use a store bought crust or make a homemade Oreo cookie crust and let it chill 30 minutes.
- Cream Filling - A mixture of softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and Oreo cookie pieces.
- Chocolate Pudding - One instant chocolate fudge pudding mix, milk, and Cool Whip makes the creamy chocolate layer.
- Cool Whip - Adds a fluffy texture to the pudding and adds a pretty topping to the Oreo pie.
- Topping - Hot fudge lines and mini Oreo cookies make the top so pretty.
How To Make
This easy Oreo cream pie comes together in a matter of minutes. It's the perfect pie recipe for beginning bakers.
Just make sure to let it chill in the fridge for a few hours before cutting and serving.
Step One: Cream Filling
- Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Gently fold in a little bit of Cool Whip to give it a lighter texture.
- Stir in a few chopped Oreo cookie chunks gently.
Step Two: Pudding
- Whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk in a bowl until thick.
- Gently stir in some Cool Whip to give it some creaminess and a fluffy texture.
Step Three: Assemble
- Use a rubber spatula to spread the cookies and cream filling in the bottom of a prepared 9 inch cookie crust.
- Spoon the chocolate pudding evenly on top.
- Spread Cool Whip over the top of the pie covering all the pudding. Refrigerate until set.
- Add hot fudge drizzles, Cool Whip swirls, and mini Oreo cookies to the top of the pie right before serving.
Tips
- Make the Oreo cookie crust ahead of time. Cover the pie plate and store it in the refrigerator until ready to fill it.
- Bake the pie crust if you prefer a crunchy crust texture to contrast the creamy filling.
- Set your cream cheese out ahead of time, so it is easier to make the Oreo filling.
- Try using different flavors of Oreos to give the filling a new taste. Mint and peanut butter would be delicious.
- To give your chocolate pudding layer a richer chocolate flavor, use chocolate milk.
- Use a piping bag and icing tip 1M to make large bakery style swirls on the top of the pie.
- This pie tastes and looks so much better if you give it time to chill in the fridge.
Storage
Place the pie in a container, cover it tightly, and keep it in the refrigerator. It will keep for 3-4 days, if it lasts that long.
I do not recommend freezing this pudding pie because the texture of instant pudding changes once it thaws.
FAQ'S
Do I have to use Cool Whip in this pie?
Not at all. If you prefer, you can make 2-3 batches of this homemade whipped topping. It is delicious and holds up in no bake recipes just as well.
Can you use a store bought Oreo crust?
You can, but they are a little bit smaller. So just make sure you do not overfill it when you add the pudding and Cool Whip topping.
Can this pie be made ahead of time?
Yes, this is a great dessert to make ahead of time because it needs time to chill and set up in the fridge. It really is best if served within 24-48 hours of making it.

I accidentally left a review thinking I was clicking on stars to READ reviews- I don't remember which star I clicked on- I do apologize if it was 3 or less! I plan to make this pie tonight as it looks and sounds delicious!
Jocelyn
No worries! I hope you enjoy the pie!

This is one of my go-to dessert recipes that I’ve been making since this was first published and it’s such a hit every time!! I even made this for a pie contest at work and won 2nd place.. got beat out by a classic apple pie. Thank you for sharing this recipe! I’m going to try to make a dairy free version this weekend for my friends that have a dairy allergy. Fingers crossed it turns out good!
Jocelyn
Wow! Thank you so much for that glowing review! I am so excited that this has been one of your favorite pies over the years. It's hard to go up against a classic favorite...but chocolate always wins in my books!
Mimi
Hi! If I do not have the cream cheese for the cream filling, can I just use extra Cool Whip mixed with the powdered sugar? Thanks for your help!
Jocelyn
That would be fine to do, although I would skip the powdered sugar because that was just to sweeten the cream cheese. I hope you enjoy the pie!
Andria
This pie was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Thank you SO much for sharing this recipe! I definitely plan to make it again! 🙂
Wendy
After the pie is assembled, will it fluff up while being in the fridge? I made this while measuring the cool whip into the cup measurements and mine seems very shallow.
Jocelyn
What size pie plate did you use? I made mine in a 9 inch pie plate. Anything larger will result in a thinner pie. It isn't a very thick pie, but it should fill the pie plate. I hope you enjoy it!
Karla
I want to make this pie for a rehearsal dinner. However, I would like to make it ahead of time. Do you think it would freeze well?
Jocelyn
I have never actually frozen this pie. My first thought is that I think it would be fine, but my second thought is that I wonder how the crust would be after it thawed out. I do think it would taste delicious frozen...kind of like a Jello pudding pop. Keep me posted on how it turns out!
Maria
I made this AMAZING pie last night because it had everything my boyfriend could ever want in a dessert— Oreos, chocolate pudding, cheesecake— it turned out and tasted perfect! I have made Oreo crusts before and they always come apart, but this time I blended the Oreos into fine crumbs, mixed it with the butter and it held together wonderfully after refigeration.
Everyone said it was the best Oreo dessert they had ever had. Thank you!
Jocelyn
Yay! Thank you for taking the time to let me know how much you guys loved this pie!!! I am so happy to hear it was a hit 🙂
Christina
When you refer to the Oreo cookies, are you using them whole (2 cookie sides + icing in center)? Or are you scraping the icing out and counting each side of the Oreo individually (1 whole Oreo = 2 cookies)? Can't wait to make this!
Jocelyn
Yes, just use the whole Oreo...2 sides + frosting. I never scrape the filling out of an Oreo...it helps bind the crust together. 1 whole Oreo = 1 cookie! I hope you enjoy it!
Lisa
In your Cookies & Cream pie you have 3 cups of cool whip - do you mean 3 - 8oz tubs of cool whip or do you mean to literally measure 3 cups?
Jocelyn
It's 3 cups of Cool Whip...an 8 ounce container of Cool Whip is 3 cups. I stated it as 3 cups because you divide it up. It might make more sense to put the 8 ounces though. I'll fix it.
Lisa
Thank you so much. I am looking forward to making this & I didn't want to make a mistake. Also thank you - I did not know that 8oz cool whip = 3 cups?
Danielle
I made this pie thanks so much. it was the best and it was my first time ever making a pie. yayyyy I'm a newbie lol. I had a question though. after making the pie are you to let it sit in the refrigerator for a while before serving? I let it sit in my fridge for 20 min but when I cut into it it was a Lil to soft to where I just can't cut a perfect slice. maybe I did something wrong? either was it was still yummy. pie is the best
Jocelyn
I am so glad you liked the pie. It is a very soft set pie since it is mostly pudding, but I do refrigerate it at least an hour or more before cutting into it. I hope that helps!

This is one of the best pies I have ever tried ?? Someone asked me what I wanted for my Birthday and I don't eat a lot of cake but I do love a pie. I found this recipe on Pinterest and took her this is the pie I would like. Omg was I impressed ?? Everyone loved it including my husband who is very picky. I think he ate 95% of my Birthday Pie ☹️ it's ok though becau it gives me a reason to make another one .. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe. ??
Jocelyn
Yay! I am so excited to hear that this pie rocked your world. And yes, if your hubby ate most of the pie, I say another one needs to happen very soon 🙂

Hehe, I was thinking why is she telling about maths story, after reading them all i found that it was about Pi and pie. Maths is my favourite subject 😛 and pi is little friend of us. The cream chocolate pie is tastier than the other pi, I'm going to get them asap.
Disappointed
Are you supposed to heat the milk before you mix it with the pudding mix? Because that is nowhere in your recipe, and when I tried to make the pie, the pudding layer was just liquid. You should make sure to include all steps if you are going to post recipes.
Jocelyn
I have no idea why you would want to heat the milk for INSTANT pudding. My guess is that you bought the cook and serve pudding, and not the instant pudding like the ingredient list clearly stated. I am so sorry to hear your pie did not turn out. I always make sure to include all the steps in the recipes I share.
Jill
Could you make this using whipped heavy cream in place of the cool whip? Going to attempt to make this into a one bite challenge for a competition I am entering. I made the original recipe before and loved it! I will have to make the different layers the night before and then transport in a cooler which it will be in for a number of hours. Then assemble on a big spoon. I am wondering if using the whipped cream instead of the cool whip will make it stay together longer. Going to pipe it into the spoon. Thoughts? Thanks!!
Jocelyn
I'm glad to hear you like the original enough to enter it into a competition. Whipped cream isn't as stable as Cool Whip, so I would be afraid that wouldn't be fluffy when you get it out of the cooler. As long as you keep the cooler full of ice and cold, the Cool Whip should be ok to use.
Jackie
You can make home made “cool whip” by adding a Tablespoon melted fluff or marshmallow to each cup of heavy cream
Noella
Is the powdered sugar icing sugar?
Thanks
Jocelyn
Powdered sugar is the sugar I use to make frostings and most icings, so I think that you could call it icing sugar.

I SO want this pie!!!
