Disney Chips
Every time we visit Walt Disney World, we look for new food to try while enjoying the magic of the Parks. Of course, a Dole Whip and Mickey Rice Krispie treat always seems to happen.
During one of our visits to Animal Kingdom, we passed by the Trilo-Bites food stand. Intrigued by their buffalo chicken chips, we decided to try it.
I'm so glad we did because those crunchy chips with buffalo chicken, ranch dressing, veggies, and blue cheese were delicious. That little snack from DinoLand has become one of my top favorites.
I'm a fan of recreating Disney snacks. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was to get home and make these incredible chips in my own kitchen!

What You Need
You can make these buffalo chips quickly with just a handful of real ingredients and a small amount of prep work. They make an excellent appetizer for parties, game nights, or a casual weeknight snack.
- Kettle Chips - It's important to use a solid, crunchy chip base. They should hold up under the toppings or in this easy chicken wing dip. A traditional potato chip won't work well because it will crumble under the toppings.
- Chicken - We tried these chips with canned chicken and leftover rotisserie chicken, and we loved it both ways. Although, you can use whatever cooked chicken you have on hand.
- Buffalo Wing Sauce - We like to use this because it is smoother than hot sauce and has a richer flavor.
- Ranch or Bleu Cheese Dressing - Either one will taste great. It all depends on which dressing you prefer with buffalo chicken. We like the contrast of this avocado ranch dressing with spicy buffalo wing sauce.
- Tomatoes and Celery - Diced celery is a no-brainer because it is always served with chicken wings. Diced tomatoes add a freshness to the crunchy chips. Red peppers are also a great option.
- Blue Cheese Crumbles - The smooth, creamy texture and mild flavor of these crumbles pair well with ranch dressing and spicy buffalo chicken. They are optional, though.
BruCrew Tip: Add arugula to make your chips just like the buffalo chicken chips that Animal Kingdom originally served.
How To Make Buffalo Chicken Chips
Preparing these buffalo chips is quick and easy, but keep a pile of napkins on hand because they get messy from the sauces.
- Prep your ingredients. Stir the shredded chicken and buffalo wing sauce in a medium bowl. Dice the veggies on a cutting board.
- Layer everything. Place a generous helping of kettle chips on a plate, then top it with the buffalo chicken mixture.
- Add sauces and veggies. Drizzle with the dressing of your choice, then sprinkle the top of the chips with diced tomatoes, celery, and bleu cheese crumbles.
- Dig in. Your plate of amazingness is ready, so grab and napkin and then dive in.
Tips and Tricks
- Save time. Make this appetizer in minutes with a bag of kettle chips, canned chicken, and store-bought dressing.
- Crunch matters. Opt for extra sturdy kettle chips that stand up to the hearty toppings without breaking or turning soggy.
- Sauce lightly. Toss your shredded chicken in just enough buffalo sauce to coat it evenly. You want a nice kick without overwhelming the other flavors.
- Fresh is best. Use crisp, fresh veggies for that satisfying crunch. They not only add texture but also balance out the richness of the other ingredients.
- Serve immediately. For the best taste, assemble these chips right before serving. This will keep the chips crunchy.
- Change it up. Don't like buffalo chicken? Try the kettle chips with barbecue chicken, red onion, ranch dressing, and bacon crumbles instead.
FAQs
Absolutely! While kettle chips provide the perfect crunch, experiment with your favorite variety. Just make sure they're sturdy enough to hold up to the toppings because soggy, crumbly chips will make you sad.
The heat level can be adjusted based on your preference. If you love the burn, then add extra buffalo sauce. Go easy on the sauce, or opt for a mild buffalo sauce for a milder version.
Hot sauce is made by blending hot peppers, salt, and vinegar, and it has a spicy taste. When melted butter is combined with hot sauce, it transforms into buffalo sauce. Buffalo sauce is smoother than hot sauce and has a more complex flavor.
Yes, you can prepare the ingredients ahead of time to streamline the process. Shred the chicken, chop the veggies, and crumble the blue cheese in advance. However, wait to assemble the loaded chips until just before serving because you want them to stay fresh and crunchy.
