This homemade Avocado Lime Salad Dressing is perfect for dipping veggies in or drizzling over your fresh salads. It is easy to make from ingredients you have in your fridge and pantry.
After baking a ton of cheesecake desserts for a cookbook over the past few months, I am totally over baking! I can’t even believe I am saying that out loud! I have been baking all the things since I was 5 years old, and now I’m in burnout mode. Not cool!
Ok, maybe not completely over it since I wanted to bake cookies last night. But I had this overwhelming desire to make and eat salad yesterday. I do love this Cranberry Poppyseed Apple Salad, but that wasn’t calling my name this week this time!
Since salad urges don’t happen very often to me, I had to run to the store and buy salad ingredients immediately. Do not get changed, do not put on makeup, do not pass go…just get in the car and go!
Yes, I was a person of Walmart yesterday morning while buying my salad stuff. Work-out pants, no makeup, and a hat pulled low over my bed head so no one would recognize me. LOL!
But in my hurry to grab some veggies and get out of there before seeing someone from church, I forgot to grab another bottle of salad dressing. We do have some ranch in the fridge, and that would have worked, I guess.
But I really wanted an avocado dressing, since I was putting avocados on my salad. Curse these crazy salad urges!
Luckily for me, I know that making homemade dressing is actually pretty easy. A little bit of olive oil, vinegar, yogurt, and lime juice added to an avocado creates a pretty fabulous dip/dressing!
And since we were having tacos for dinner that night, I had some cilantro to throw into the mix. Score!
The best part is that it only takes about 5 minutes to mix up this avocado lime salad dressing. My handy dandy little food processor does most of the work for me! Gotta love that!

- 1 whole avocado
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 5-6 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- Peel and dice the avocado.
- Place everything in a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth.
- Store in the refrigerator in a sealed jar. Makes 1 1/2 cups dressing.
