    Easy Take 5 Bars Recipe

    By Jocelyn · PUBLISHED January 12, 2021 · UPDATED March 2, 2021 · 40 Comments

Two homemade Take 5 Bars stacked on a white plate

These homemade Take 5 Bars have layers of sweet and salty goodness. Adding peanuts, caramel, and chocolate covered pretzels to a peanut butter blonde brownie recipe is a very delicious idea.

My favorite type of dessert is one loaded with sweet and salty flavors.  There is something about that combo that just gets me every single time. And now I'm craving Salted Caramel Brownie Bites...

I think my love for sweet and salty is why I love the Reese's Take 5 candy bars.  They have the sweet goodness of milk chocolate and caramel with salty nuts and pretzels in every bite.

It's definitely a candy bar that I cannot buy bigs bags of because I would hide them and then eat every.single.one!...

    Cheesy Chicken Soup Recipe

    By Jocelyn · PUBLISHED January 9, 2021 · UPDATED March 2, 2021 · 5 Comments

A white bowl on a red towel filled with cheesy chicken soup

Make a pot of this Cheesy Chicken Soup for dinner tonight in under 40 minutes.  This easy soup recipe is loaded with noodles, chicken, and veggies. It is the perfect comfort food meal for a cold, winter night.

Two bowls filled with cheesy chicken soup and a plate of crackers behind them

This week we have been busy with a room redo project, so I have been pretty distracted cleaning and organizing. So, making dinner has been the last thing on my mind.

This chicken soup was one of those last minute, "Oh, yeah.  The family needs to eat real food, so I should probably make something."  Normally, this White Chicken Chili is one of my go to's when I need a quick dinner, but I didn't have all the ingredients for it this time.

So, I quickly grabbed a few things from our cupboards and fridge and threw it all in one big pot.  Voilà!  Cheesy chicken goodness in no time at all.

Our kiddos devoured the soup and a loaf of this Easy Garlic Herb Bread no time at all, so I knew I had to make it again.  Luckily, for me and you, I wrote all the ingredients down as I threw them in the pot, so it was easy to make it again for dinner (and pictures)

I realized that it seems like lately all I have been sharing is healthy food.  I promise this isn't becoming a diet site where all I talk about is working out and our healthy eating. Although, some of you may feel that way...

The way we started eating a year and a half ago is NOT a diet, but it has been a lifestyle change for everyone in our family.  Since that is what we have been eating and making, I have been sharing these foods and why we are eating them here on the blog.

Please tell me there are others of you that are happy about the healthier options I have been posting.

Trust me, I still have a sweet tooth the size of Texas that no amount of healthy eating has been able to change.  So, there are lots of decadent desserts I still need to share with you!

A small clear glass filled with a vanilla pineapple smoothie on a red napkin

This Vanilla Pineapple Smoothie has a light, refreshing tropical taste with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla. Easy and delicious protein shake to enjoy for breakfast or lunch!

Eating healthy doesn't have to be boring.  We like to change up our protein smoothies with different fruits each week to keep them refreshing and nutritious.

Today's the day! We are hitting it hard in the gym again this morning.  Well, not too hard because I still want to be able to walk tomorrow.

And we are taking a few weeks to reset our bodies by eating healthy lean and green meals. That means no processed sugar.  I'm a little bit skeered because my sweet tooth is the size of Texas...no, probably Europe.  It's big people.

Not eating extra sugar has me worried.  Mostly because the food I enjoy making the most happens to be pretty sugar laden.  Hello, crazy dessert baker here!

We love keeping different kinds of deli meat, veggies, and tortillas in our fridge, so anyone can make a quick roll up if they are hungry. It's an easy thing to put together for a quick grab and go lunch when the kids are running out the door in a hurry.

These are also an easy appetizer to make for game days.  During the winter months, we like to make "snack suppers" and play cards or board games as a family.

These turkey roll ups and these Blackberry Brie Bites are two of my favorites to munch on, while our kids love these Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizza Bites.

Do you have a certain flavor or ingredient that you have to make at certain times of the year?  This year I'm torn between peppermint and eggnog. I honestly can't decide which one I like better right now.

Today I'm sharing one more peppermint dessert before Christmas officially gets here.  And you are in luck because this no bake recipe is so easy to make. Seriously, it can be made in under 30 minutes.

All you need are a few ingredients to make a no bake cheesecake and some Oreo cookies with the red filling.  Regular ones will totally work too, but the dessert will not be as pretty inside.

    Gingerbread Banana Bread

Make a loaf of this Gingerbread Banana Bread for an easy breakfast on Christmas morning. The molasses and spices give this banana bread recipe a delicious holiday twist.

A red and white plate with slices of banana bread standing on it and a cup of coffee behind it.

Earlier this year, I went through a banana bread-making phase.  It seemed to be the thing to do as we were all at home more than usual. This peanut butter cup banana bread still has the number 1 spot as the best one so far.

Then, I just seemed to stop making banana bread. Apparently, it is feast or famine with me and banana bread. That and our youngest son kept eating all the bananas before they got ripe enough to bake with.

A few weeks ago, we had extra bananas, so I decided to give this sour cream banana bread a fun holiday twist.

Why You'll Love This Gingerbread Banana Bread

Changing out some of the sour cream for molasses and extra spices gave this banana bread a seasonal flavor. And, of course, I'm all about adding a glaze to the top of all the sweet breads I bake. It just adds a little something extra.

    • Gingerbread flavor. Adding molasses and extra spices gives the classic banana bread recipe a festive twist.
    • Fun holiday flair. The little gingerbread men and snowflake sprinkles on top of the glaze make it so pretty and festive!
    • Moist and delicious. This banana gingerbread loaf turned out so good!  It is soft, delicious, and moist.
