Once the holidays arrive, I always buy a carton of eggnog. It just feels like Christmas to me. Usually, I start with an eggnog latte, then use the rest to bake treats or make holiday desserts.
This easy eggnog dip is a light, fluffy dessert dip that I can throw together in minutes, without the oven or even a mixer. It's a perfect last-minute appetizer or dessert for Christmas parties and get-togethers.
I add a little rum extract and nutmeg, and this creamy pudding dip tastes just like classic nog. Serve it with gingerbread men and shortbread cookies, and watch the bowl get scraped clean!
Reasons to Love This Easy Eggnog Dessert Dip
- Simple ingredients. This dip needs three main ingredients: eggnog, a tub of Cool Whip, and a box of vanilla pudding mix. So easy!
- Authentic eggnog flavor. I use real eggnog and flavor this dip with a hint of rum extract and nutmeg. It tastes just like the classic holiday drink.
- Perfect for holiday parties. I love serving this eggnog dip on a Christmas dessert board with our favorite cookies and dippers.
- Ready in minutes. Best of all, this dip is made in one bowl. Just mix, chill, and serve!
Ingredients You'll Need
You only need 5 ingredients to make this easy holiday eggnog dip. You'll find the full, printable recipe card with measurements after the post.

- Instant Vanilla Pudding: Choose a box of your favorite vanilla instant pudding mix, like Jell-O. Cook-and-serve pudding won't work in this dip recipe.
- Eggnog: This can be store-bought in a carton or homemade, if you have a recipe.
- Rum Extract: You could use actual rum here instead. I recommend a dark or spiced rum. Vanilla extract works, too.
- Nutmeg: For flavor and as a garnish. Substitute ground cinnamon if you don't have nutmeg.
- Cool Whip: One container of thawed whipped topping. You can make this dip with homemade whipped cream, if you'd like.
How to Make Eggnog Dip
This Christmas eggnog dip comes together quickly. You can serve it right away, or make it ahead for parties. Just keep it cold in the fridge until it's time to serve! To make it:

- Combine the ingredients. Mix the dry pudding mix with eggnog, rum extract, and a little nutmeg. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to allow the pudding to firm up.
- Add Cool Whip. Fold in the contents of the Cool Whip container.
- Chill and serve. Return the dip to the fridge until you're ready to serve, and then garnish with extra nutmeg.
This easy eggnog dip pairs wonderfully with cookies and gingerbread men (or these fun Mickey Mouse gingerbread!) for dipping. It's even great as a fruit dip with apple slices or strawberries.

Make a Dessert Charcuterie Board!
One of my favorite ways to entertain during the holiday season is with an easy homemade dessert board.
Add bowls of festive dips, such as eggnog dip, fluffy peppermint dip, and hot chocolate dip, to a platter. Then, arrange any of the following treats around the bowls for dipping and snacking:
- Homemade Christmas cookies or decorated store-bought cookies
- Pretzels
- Nilla wafers
- Graham crackers
- Gingersnaps
- Pretzel bark

More Ways to Use Eggnog Dip
This creamy eggnog dip doubles as a pie filling! Spread this dip into a Golden Oreo crust or a graham cracker crust.
You can also layer the dip in an eggnog trifle with cookies and fresh berries.
How to Store Leftovers
This eggnog dip can be made a few hours in advance and kept refrigerated until it's time to serve. Afterward, return any leftovers to the fridge in an airtight container.
The dip lasts for 1-2 days before it starts to lose some of its fluffy texture. Give it a quick stir before serving.
