What is your baking style?  Do you like plain desserts or jazzed-up desserts? I'm Team Jazz all the way!

Why else would I add Dr Pepper to a chocolate cake? Sounds crazy? Maybe. But if you tried this Dr Pepper chocolate cake, you would be amazed.

I personally like to embellish these chocolate chip brownies with extra candy and toppings. But my family always asks for "plain" brownies or regular chocolate chip cookies. I have also mixed them and made these brookies!

I found this fudgy brownie recipe in an old church cookbook from Goodwill. After a few rounds of recipe testing and tweaking, I developed a dense brownie with a rich dark chocolate color that tastes amazing!

Why You Will Love Brownies With Chocolate Chips

    • Easy to make. The batter for these easy homemade brownies comes together in minutes with just a few ingredients.
    • Rich dark color and taste. Using dark cocoa powder and chocolate chips gives these brownies an amazing color and chocolaty flavor.
    • Seriously, the best homemade brownies! They are fudgy and moist with a crackly top.

    Rainbow Cheesecake Bars

Tired of boring desserts?  Brighten up the dessert table with these easy Rainbow Cheesecake Bars. They have a swirl of bright tie dye colors on top making it the perfect dessert any time of year.  It is an easy cheesecake recipe to customize for any theme or holiday by changing the colors.

Two plates with rainbow cheesecake bars on them with a swirl of Cool Whip and sprinkles on top.

Spring has definitely arrived here in Florida.  Flowers are blooming, and the weather has been getting warmer during the day. I love going to stores and seeing all the pretty plants that you can plant in your own yards.

I have been trying to acquire a green thumb by planting more flowers and plants outside.  Over the years I have learned to avoid the inside plants because those tend to die way too quickly on my watch.

So far, only a few outdoor plants have decided to pass on living in my flower beds.  A few others were nibbled on by the deer, so I'm not taking credit for their deaths.

It's probably better if I stick to being a baker and making cheesecake bars instead of trying to be a gardener. These fun vanilla cheesecake recipe was inspired by all the flowers that I want to plant.

These soft mint Shamrock Shake Sugar Cookie Bars are a fun and easy treat for St. Patrick's Day. White frosting, green sugar, and a cherry make this sugar cookie bar recipe look like the popular McDonald's shamrock shake.

A square of Shamrock Shake Sugar Cookie Bars with white frosting, green sugar, and a maraschino cherry on a white doily with more bars behind it

Ok, so I realized that I just shared a sugar cookie bar with you recently. But this weekend I was scrolling through Facebook, and I saw a few different posts for shamrock shakes.

Want to know something?  I don't think I have ever had one before. Can you believe that?  Please tell me I am not the only one. I've been too busy making and drinking a Homemade Mint Latte instead.

And in 8 years of blogging I have never made any sort of shamrock dessert.  I'm definitely a fly by the seat of my pants kind of blogger.

Usually on a whim, I get crazy ideas for food that I can't rest until I make. This was one of those moments!

Now that our kids are older, we enjoy having them help us with dinner.  When they were younger, they would help by opening cans and pouring the ingredients into the pots.

Now we have been having them plan and make dinner for us. It's not their favorite thing to do, but we want them to be prepared as they get closer to college age. Each week they give us their dinner idea, and we purchase the ingredients for their meal.

They still have lots of questions on how to do things, but they are getting so much better at reading a recipe and figuring out how to put it together in the right order.

Sweet and Spicy Dr. Pepper Chili

A white bowl filled with Dr. Pepper Chili and topped with sour cream, shredded cheese, and green onions

A pot of this Sweet and Spicy Dr. Pepper Chili is the perfect choice for winter days, chili cook-offs, or game day parties. The hearty and comforting chili recipe gets the sweet and spicy flavor from chipotle peppers and a can of Dr. Pepper.

Two white bowls on black plates filled with Dr. Pepper Chili and topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and green onions

Chili is one of the meals we eat the most during the winter months. Even the winter months in Florida get a little chilly.  Occasionally, we even make a pot of this sweet and spicy chili or this Low Carb Keto Chili during the summer months.

Usually, I like to take what I call the cheater chili approach.  You know the one right?  Open 6 cans of beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato juice and throw it all in a crock pot along with some cooked ground beef.    Haha!  That's my way of doing dinner.

Thank goodness my husband loves creating and cooking dinners for us because my chili game could use some work.
