Baking Christmas cookies soon? Add these peppermint Oreo cookies and these peanut butter cup cookies to your list!
I love baking Christmas cookies and holiday treats this time of year. We have our tried and true favorites that we always make, and then I usually pick a few new ones to try out.
One cookie that makes our holiday list every year are these peppermint snowball cookies. You can roll the dough into balls, or if you want to save time, you can press the dough onto a pan and make cookie sticks.
To give these peppermint shortbread cookies some holiday flair, I dipped them in dark chocolate and added some crushed candy canes and sprinkles. These are the perfect cookie to enjoy with a steaming cup of coffee.

Remember a few weeks ago when I admitted HERE that I was struggling remembering any kind of 9th grade science?
Well, it's gets worse people. Now I can't even do 4th grade math. Seriously! My brain has decided to go bye bye when it comes to scholastic anything. [Read more...]

The other day, I got an intense craving for mint and chocolate. I had most of the stuff in my cupboards to make these right away, so I just had to run to the store for the mint Oreos. Now, here's the kicker! I can't even eat these.

When our kids have tests, we have them study, and then we will quiz them to see how much they really studied. Nothing like a good study session to make you realize how much school stuff you have forgotten and how dumb you have become. That was me the other night. My son had a biology test that he wanted me to quiz him for. Biology is one of those classes I learned at the time, and then promptly forgot as soon as school was over.
Yikes! It has been way too many years since being in school. My brain does not remember things like ATP energy, autotrophs, chloroplasts, adenosine, thylakoids. Shoot! I can't even remember how to pronounce some of those. My son had a good laugh at me as I was asking him some of the things on his papers. The sad thing is that I just went over all those things with him the other day, and I couldn't tell you what any of those are now. Well, maybe chloroplasts...I think those are some sort of plant cell where the color is stored...or something like that. The other ones I have no clue. Obviously I forgot again!

I realized that the holidays are still a little ways off, but I have been busy thinking of new holiday treats to try out for this year.
With my entire being completely enamored with peppermint right now, I have been including it into everything I bake. Cookies, truffles, and now cheesecake. Nothing is safe in my kitchen from this peppermint craze. I sure hope you are all stocked up on peppermint chips and baking ingredients. My list might end up being pretty long. Maybe I should just get those fat pants out now...

I am getting myself ready to bake lots and lots of cookies this year. Do I need them? Does anyone want them? The answer to both questions is probably no, but that still isn't going to stop me from making tons of cookies. I'm sure I can find someone to help me eat them all.
This year, I was excited to buy the Pumpkin Spice Kisses again. I bought a bag of them right away, but then the bag just sat there in the cupboard, unopened and lonely.
There was no way I could open the bag for just one kiss. I have self-control issues, and those kisses would have been gone. Not to mention that when my family sees an open bag of candy, they think it is fair game.

I realized this week that it has been 5 years since I started this fun little hobby called blogging.
FIVE YEARS people!!!
That's five years of me rambling on about stuff and posting odds and ends with lots of sugar goodness in between. You guys deserve an award for letting me ramble so much and for filling your bellies with everything and all things sugar.
Of course not all 5 years was sugar.

Dear Bowl of Fall Goodness,
Why must you be so good together? I thought I could resist the temptation of mixing candy corn, peanuts, and Reese's pieces. That was just silly. Now that the bowl is empty, all I can think about is going to the store for more ingredients for this life-changing snack mix. I'll definitely never stop craving this. I guess that means I need to stock up on bags of candy corn while it's still available.

Dear Teenage Driver,
I know you are so cool now that you can drive, but can I offer one small piece of advice? If you leave the mall and get into your vehicle, please leave the parking spot, especially if you see a black minivan waiting for your up-close parking spot. Do not sit there texting and laughing. And please do not wait until the said black van gives up and drives to the back of the parking lot. The right thing to do is leave as soon as possible so others can utilize those close spots.

Dear BruCrew Readers,
Please, do yourself a favor and buy some candy corn, peanuts, and Reese's Pieces today. I recall that my first letter mentioned this was a dangerous mix. Go ahead and forget about that...you will definitely thank me after you try it. Your pants might hate me, but I can live with that. To help you out a little, I have a blonde brownie recipe that uses up the rest of the snack mix. Yes, it is just as dangerous to eat, but let's live on the edge a little. These peanut butter blonde brownies have so much texture from the snack mix and have such a delicious peanut butter flavor that you just can't stop munching. The candy corn gives the perfect amount of chew in each bite, too. You are going to love them...promise.

Every day around 2 p.m. I start to think about dinner. You caught what I said there, right? I "think" about dinner.
In our home, my husband makes most of our meals. He really enjoys cooking, and I am content to do all the baking. But there are those days that I wonder what I could do for dinner to help out.
I think and think and most of the time just come up with one of our usual meals. My go to meal is usually grilled chicken and BLT Zucchini Salad.
