My family has started to boycott sweets.  I'm not sure I know who they are anymore!!  I mean seriously, how can you live with me and not like sweets?  This is boggling my mind for sure!

Ok, fine.  I guess if you have sweets around 24/7, it can get pretty old.  I still haven't gotten to that point of not wanting the sweets. Although, I'm pretty sure my jeans would love it if I could join the no sweets train a little more often.

Since the desserts I have been making have been going untouched, I need to get back to creating some more savory dishes.  This family of mine insists that Dark Chocolate Layer Cake just doesn't work for dinner. So it's time to find some more dinner recipes that will get devoured.

Do you know some adults who seem to love Disney more than their kids? I have to admit that I'm one of those people who absolutely loves going to the Parks.

Not everyone can head to the Parks at this time, so I am on a mission to recreate some of my favorite Disney snacks for all of us to enjoy at home.

    Why Make Mickey Mouse Treats

Making your own Disney treats like a copycat Dole Whip or Mickey gingerbread is a great way to enjoy a little bit of Mickey Mouse fun with your family.

Now I realize that nothing beats eating the real thing in front of the castle at Disney World, but this copycat version of the Mickey shaped rice krispie treats is perfect when you can't visit.

They look and taste just like the ones you can purchase at Main Street Confectionery in Disney World and at Goofy's Candy Company in Disney Springs. Plus, you can use the same method to make these Disney bunny butt rice krispies for Easter! You gotta love a hidden Mickey treat!

Strawberry shortcake is one of those summer desserts that makes just about everyone smile.  Well, unless you are an alien or something. LOL!

Sweet biscuits topped with strawberries, homemade whipped cream, and milk.  Yes, I just said milk.  Now don't get me wrong.  I'm not drowning my shortcakes in milk, just drizzling some over the top to soften them up a little.

Show me your hands if you like to add milk to the top of your shortcake stack.  Ok, wait I can't see your hands, so you will have to leave me a comment if you are a milk fan too! ...

I remember making lemon meringue pies for my dad all the time when I was a teenager.  Making tall peaks with the fluffy meringue topping and then toasting them was always my favorite part of those pies.

Now that I think about it though, I honestly cannot remember the last time I made a lemon meringue pie. Usually, I make the Best Lemon Bars or this Lemon Strawberry Poke Cake if I'm in the mood for lemon treats.

In fact, I had not even thought about those lemon pies until a few months ago when I was choosing recipes to make for spring. One of the recipes on my list were these lemon meringue cupcakes. This lemon cupcake just yells spring, doesn't it?

    Coconut Brownies

Brownies are something that I crave all the time.  It doesn't matter how long I resist eating sugar; my craving for a gooey chocolate brownie never goes away. Don't try to tell me it will. I've gone weeks without eating sugar, and I still want it all.

Working out and eating right have been a bit of a hit or miss over the past few months. So, I've changed up my eating and added working out back into my routine over the past two weeks, as summer is almost here.

Then I made a pan of these homemade chocolate chip brownies for the boys in our house, and I stumbled. I took one bite, and then another, and then another, and before I knew it, two brownies had disappeared.

One or two brownies here and there are okay.  Now, if I had eaten the whole pan, that would be a different story...

    Behind BruCrew Life

It's hard to believe but almost a year has passed since I shared a behind the scenes look at what our family has been up too.

How is everyone holding up under stay at home orders?  Are you able to find everything you need? Our family is all together, healthy, and still doing good.

I was looking through pictures on my phone the other day, it made me realize how much I love sharing these moments with you. So, here is a quick look at what we have been up to in April.

Last fall I convinced my husband that adding a puppy to our household would be a good idea.  Lucky for me, he humors most of my ideas, so we got a mini goldendoodle puppy.

She is already 8 months old and the sweetest little thing ever. Lately, her favorite thing to do is go on walks in the evening with us. ...

A wedge of skillet cornbread on an off white plate with the skillet behind it

It has been warm for quite a while now here in Florida.  And I'm not complaining one bit.  The older I get, the more I want to stay far, far away from the cold.

The other day, we woke up to some pretty chilly temperatures. Ok, ok. So, 65 degrees may not be chilly to some of you, but that's a brisk morning here. It was really a welcome change of pace for the day.

The sun came out, but it didn't really get any warmer than about 78 degrees.  We have to take advantage of these "cooler" days and enjoy soups and chili.  So, of course, we mixed up a big pot of chili and a skillet cornbread for dinner.

    Salted Butterscotch Bars

    By Jocelyn · PUBLISHED April 28, 2020 · UPDATED May 5, 2020 · 22 Comments

These Salted Butterscotch Bars are a fun and delicious way to change up your normal brownies.  These bars are loaded with plenty of butterscotch chips and topped with sea salt to satisfy that sweet and salty lover in you.

Three Salted Butterscotch Bars stacked on a white plate

The past few weeks I have been really trying to watch what I am eating.  And no, not watch it go from my plate to my mouth, like normal.  I mean, eating more salads, drinking more protein drinks, and adding more meats to my meals.

And I have been trying to workout a little bit more often.  Last week I doubled up on a few days.  Let me tell you, two workouts a day will make you tired...and hungry...and kind of crabby!

It also makes you want to eat all the sweets in the house!  And after two workouts you deserve the Best Lemon Bars or handfuls of Peanut Butter S'mores Muddy Buddies, right?  My jeans and shorts say that's the wrong answer.  Thanks for trying to help a girl out, though....
