On cool fall mornings, enjoy a slice of this brown butter Pumpkin Snack Cake for breakfast. The simple pumpkin coffee cake with streusel goes perfectly with a mug of hot coffee.

A white plate with two squares of pumpkin coffee cake with streusel stacked on it.

I made this pumpkin coffee cake for breakfast a while ago, and it quickly disappeared. Even my husband enjoyed this recipe.

He said he loved that it was simple. I like crazy, wild desserts like these pumpkin Oreo cheesecakes or these brownie pumpkin cheesecake bars. Give me all the layers and all the swirls—most of the time!

Occasionally, I like a simple pumpkin cake to enjoy with my pumpkin cream cold brew. Right now, a simple cake with jazzed-up coffee is my thing.

This pumpkin coffee cake starts with brown butter. Browning butter only takes a few minutes and is so worth it. Plus, it will make your kitchen smell amazing.

Three cinnamon sugar apple donut holes stacked on top of each other on a white paper.

I was dreaming of cooler days last week, so I bought some apples and apple cider and got to work in the kitchen giving these glazed cinnamon donuts a twist.

Our kids love the Munchkin's from Dunkin Donuts, so I knew apple cider donut holes would be a hit! These mini donuts definitely stole our hearts this fall.  They will be on repeat every week.

    Why these are so delicious

It's all about the apples.  These balls of joy are loaded with applesauce, apple cider, and shredded apples. Combine that amazing apple flavor with the right spices, and you have a winner.

Three times the apple goodness makes these donut hole muffins the perfect thing to enjoy on fall mornings. Just add a pitcher of iced apple cider or a hot pumpkin latte, and you will be all set. ...

    Sustainable Farming

    By Jocelyn · PUBLISHED August 24, 2020 · 1 Comment

Sustainable Farming means being a good steward of natural systems and resources, meeting the needs of the present, and not compromising the future. Farmers are always looking for ways to recycle and reuse the land in order to provide for the needs of society.

Close up picture of a flowering soybean plant on a sustainable farm

I am partnering with BestFoodFacts and the United Soybean Board to bring you information about sustainability in farming.

During the many years I have been blogging, I have been privileged to visit many different types of farms. I have been to pig farms in South Dakota, tomato farms in Indiana, chicken farms in Ohio, dairy farms in California, and corn farms in Illinois. Last year I was even able to learn fun facts about soybeans from a farm in Maryland.

Every time I visit a farm, I come away with more information on farming and how the food they produce ends up on my table. The passion and commitment these farmers have for what they do impresses me every single time.

The farmers that I have met and talked to have a strong desire to leave their land better than the way they found it. One of the biggest things they want to do is to recycle and reuse their land in ways that affect future generations in a positive way. ...

Last week my husband and I started doing a new workout program.  Four mornings a week we head out to our gym together.  My muscles were so sore after the first week. I'm pretty sure I worked muscles that have never worked before.

But all the cookie eating has started to show, and I am determined to get back in all those cute clothes sitting in our closet before fall gets here! So, give me all the painful workouts...as long as I see some results.

A clear jar filled with strawberry chia jam and a spoon lifting jam out

This sweet Strawberry Chia Jam recipe is a delicious and healthy alternative to store bought jams and jellies. It is easy to make, tastes great, and only uses a few natural ingredients.

A clear jar filled with strawberry chia jam and a spoon lifting out a spoonful of the jam

Once we started limiting our sugar intake, we really started noticing just how much refined sugar is in different foods.  Take jams and jellies, for instance.  Most store-bought ones have a high amount in them.

In the past year or so, I have started to make a few different homemade jams for us to eat instead. Once you start making your own jams and jellies, you will never want to buy the ones in the store again.

So, I said you won't want to, but there are time you will still do it. At the moment there is a jar of grape jelly AND a jar of strawberry preserves in our fridge because I was lazy this week and did not make more sugar-free jelly before school started this week....
