Take 5 Cheesecake Brownies

Eating cheesecake that takes after a candy bar is definitely something you want to try. Wait until you take a bite of these Take 5 Cheesecake Brownies. You will always want your brownies this way.

What can I say? I couldn't help but make another cheesecake recipe for you. Especially with it being National Cheesecake Day and all. This is definitely a day that had to be celebrated for sure. We just love making cheesecake over here a little too much.

Have you seen this Strawberrylicious Chocolate Cheesecake or this Mocha Oreo Cheesecake? Those were some of the very first cheesecake creations that we have come up with...and we haven't stopped since then.

Spinach Artichoke Chicken Biscuits

These easy Spinach Artichoke Chicken Biscuits are a great way to enjoy a quick dinner or lunch. Who wouldn't want a biscuit with three kinds of melty cheese inside?

Let's talk about dinner for a minute.

Yes, I realize that I rarely share savory dishes here. My brain is usually in such a sugar coma that it doesn't even think about dinner things, but I have a family that doesn't think Oreo Marshmallow Brownies are a good dinner option. Who are these people? And can they really be related to me? Haha!

I do need to step it up in the dinner department I think. So this week I made two dinners. Yes, TWO!! And I took pictures, so I could share them with you too. I think my family was just as shocked as you are.

Toasted Marshmallow Cheesecake Brownies

These Toasted Marshmallow Cheesecake Brownies are a fun way to enjoy the flavor of a toasted marshmallow without the work of getting a campfire ready. It is easy to make all the layers and would make an excellent addition to the next picnic or dinner party you attend.

I love s'mores this time of the year. Not that I don't enjoy them year round, but there is something about summer that just makes you want to have a campfire each week and enjoy those toasty marshmallows each time.

The only thing is that campfires are not quite as fun when it is super hot outside. But I still want to enjoy those toasted marshmallows and melty chocolate. This year hasn't been super hot until just the past few weeks, so now I am looking for fun ways to incorporate the taste of s'mores into my baking.

Of course, I had to try cheesecake first with this flavor. Cheesecake brownies are one of my top favorite things to make. It all started with these Reese's Cheesecake Brownies, and I haven't stopped since.

BruCrew Top Ten

Happy weekend, everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the last steamy days of summer vacation. We counted the days, and our kids only have 22 days left until school starts again. How crazy is that? Time to get berry picking and to the pool a few more times before homework starts.

Although I think the kids are starting to get ready for school, they probably want to see their friends and get into a routine. Routine is a good thing to have most of the year. I am actually ready to have a set schedule too. We can only take so many weeks of not doing anything very productive.

Ready for my Top Ten picks? These are my favorite Instagrams, or internet finds that caught my eye lately...

1. A few weeks ago, I made this wedding cake. Every single time I agree to make one, I say it is the last one. Seriously, this is the last one! Please help me remember why...4 days of nothing but cake, frosting, and decorating. Oh, and the stress of making sure it is perfect because umpteen million people will be staring at it as it sits on the dance floor.

Some nights you just want a dessert that does not take a lot of prep time. These Biscoff Peach Empanadas start with 3 ingredients and can be done in under 20 minutes.

I know that everyone is looking for easy no bake desserts right now because it is so hot outside. But I had this idea for an easy pie idea, and I couldn't wait any longer to make it.

The best part was that I had all the ingredients in my kitchen. So, what did I do? Turned my air down so it was chilly in the house and got to baking. Take that 98* weather!

Oatmeal S'mores Bars

Oatmeal cookies get a fun twist by baking them in a pan and melting chocolate chips and marshmallows on top. These Oatmeal S'mores Bars are a quick and easy way to enjoy cookies and s'mores without a lot of work.

Earlier this week we were invited to some friend's house for a cookout and fireworks. Yes, we were those people shooting off fireworks 4 days after the 4th 🙂 Everyone was supposed to bring a side dish. All I heard was bring a dessert. Doesn't a dessert count as a side dish? In my head dessert counts as a side dish, main course, or appetizer. My brain is always on dessert mode. I just can't help it. [Read more...]

Fluffernutter Ice Cream

An easy peanut butter ice cream that only requires 5 ingredients and a mixer. You read that right! This no churn Fluffernutter Ice Cream does NOT need an ice cream machine to become a reality in your summer loving life.

A chocolate cone filled with peanut butter ice cream.

The beginning of summer has come and gone. And I am still waiting for those high 80s and 90s to tell me that summer is truly here. This summer has been so different from past ones.

It has been one thunderstorm or rainstorm after the next. I'm beginning to think school will start back up before we get a chance to really soak up those sun rays at the pool.

BruCrew Top Ten

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July yesterday. My house was super quiet as I worked on cakes and frosting. Of course I got bored after a while and headed out for some shopping while the stores were still open. Then it was back home to get the wedding cake knocked out. All I have to do now is stack all the layers and add the icing decorations. Then comes the stressful part of driving the cake to the reception location...that is always a very tense drive. This is the last big cake order I have scheduled for the summer. I think I'm going to keep it that way.

Now let's get to the top 10 things and instagrams that caught my eye in the last 2 weeks.

1. We took a day away from all work and went to the Michigan Dunes. The weather this year has been crazy cool, but it didn't stop our kids from getting into the freezing Lake Michigan water. It was a fun day of hiking up the sand and playing frisbee. We need more days like this.

Chocolate Whoopie Pies

These Chocolate Whoopie Pies are an easy cake mix cookie that everyone will enjoy.

One thing that my husband is known for is making homemade pizza. He and his brothers used to own a small pizza place about 10 years ago. It was fun, but very eye-opening. We learned that you need to have a substantial amount of money in savings to keep your business going through those first few tough years.

After a year and a half, we had to sell the place, and everyone moved on to other jobs. But my husband still makes pizza for us a few times a month. We also prepare pizza for anyone in our church who may need a meal, typically for families who have recently had a baby.

Last week, we were scheduled to bring pizza to a family that had just had a baby girl. Of course, that meant I needed to be on the ball with a delicious dessert to go with the pizza. I wanted to make something that wouldn't produce a lot of extra treats, because I knew they wouldn't want the extra goodies sitting around, and I couldn't leave them in my house. I still struggle with self-control when it comes to sweets.

These cake mix cookies are perfect because when you fill them with frosting, there are only 12 cookies to deal with. Six went out the door immediately after I ate one. They were truly amazing, and they took me back to my childhood. I grew up in Amish country in PA, and these cookies taste just like the whoopie pies we would buy from the Amish family store. These tasted so much like the Amish cookies I had just eaten that I had to eat another one right away. Bad for the diet, but oh, so worth it.

Now I had totally planned on dividing the frosting into red, white, and blue. But...that was before I realized I was completely out of red gel color. So, I went with the classic white marshmallow butter cream for these bad boys. If you want to get all patriotic, you could dip the edges of the frosting in some colored sprinkles. I was on a time schedule, and barely had time to make these and snap a few pictures before my husband had to drop them off. I suppose that's poor planning on my part, but I'm glad I was able to get a few pictures to share with you.

You need these cookies like now. Promise me that you will give them a try...but I suggest making them only if you have someone to share them with.

Bacon Ranch Grilled Jalapenos

Summer means grilling out every single week. We like to grill a big package of chicken or hamburgers & hot dogs for dinner and then eat on the leftovers all week long. And when I say we like to grill, you all know I mean my husband likes to, right?

We have quite the system worked out around here. I make dessert, he makes dinner. It sure is a good thing I married someone who likes to make real food. Otherwise it would be Fluffernutter brownies and Butterfinger cheesecakes for dinner all the time.
